DOVER, Del. — The Seahawks now stretch their win streak to nine, taking down Delaware State 15-1 in seven innings in the series opener.
Wagner's last nine game win streak stretched from March 29 through April 11, 2018. The Seahawks scored their 15 runs on 12 hits.
Senior Colin Trizuto pitched his second complete game of 2026, throwing 7.0 innings where he allowed just one run to score on a pair of hits, striking out four Hornets. Trizuto finished his day at just 83 pitches.
Offensively, the Seahawks had one extra-base hit and became aggressive on the base paths. The team combined for 12 stolen bases, with juniors Josiah Ross and Diego Tavarez stealing three apiece. Wagner worked seven walks in the game — junior Dylan Immel had three himself.
Junior Joseph Mennella started off the scoring in the first with a sacrifice fly to score graduate Lukas Torres, a 1-0 lead that Wagner held through three innings before the offense picked up in the fourth.
Wagner scored three runs on three hits and a walk in the fourth, with four stolen bases in the frame alone. Delaware State was able to get on the board for the first time in the bottom of the fourth, with Rosnell Lewis working a leadoff walk, followed by a single, groundout and sacrifice fly to send him home. The Seahawks led 4-1 heading to the fifth, where they tacked on three more runs.
It was three more runs for Wagner in the fifth, with singles from Mazzotta and Tavarez, while Mennella and Blakley worked walks. Wagner led 7-1 heading to the sixth and added two more in that frame, with Mennella scoring Ross on a sacrifice fly and Mazzotta adding an RBI single to score Tavarez.
The seventh was where Wagner ran away with the game, loading the bases with a pair of hit batters and a bunt single. An error scored a pair to bring the run rule into effect, then another hit batter loaded the bases again. Redshirt junior Evan McRae added a two-RBI single to put Wagner up 12-1. Freshman Alex Kerr worked a pinch-hit walk to load the bases, then fellow freshman Derek Patrissi and Blakley added RBIs on a single and ground out, respectively.
Next up, the Seahawks look to take the series over the Hornets on Saturday, May 2 in a noon game at Bob Reed Field.
