QUEENS, N.Y. — Wagner took an 11-2 loss on the road at St. John's on Tuesday, finishing the game with its two runs scored on nine hits.
Graduate Lukas Torres opened up the game with his 200th career hit, cementing himself in the Wagner history books. He finished the game 3-for-5, one of a pair of Seahawks with multiple hits in the game.
Wagner scored its pair of runs in the third, getting on the board via an RBI single from junior Dylan Immel, then an RBI single from sophomore Andrew Marquis pushed in the second run. Those runs brought Wagner within one, trailing 3-2, but the Seahawks were unable to scratch any more across from that point.
In addition Torres, junior Diego Tavarez finished his day 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored as the second Wagner hitter with multiple hits. Alongside Immel and Marquis, freshman Jeremy Haigh added a hit in a pinch hit opportunity, going 1-for-1 with what was his first collegiate hit.
After freshman starter Quinn Finnegan threw two innings to start the game where he allowed three runs, junior Ethan Moran went 2.0 innings where he allowed just one St. John's run to score.
Next up, Wagner heads to New Britain, Connecticut to take on reigning NEC champion CCSU. The series will begin with a 3 p.m. EDT game on Thursday, April 2.
