Women’s Basketball Hosts Maryland Eastern Shore On Saturday

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team will welcome Maryland Eastern Shore to the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday afternoon, tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

Last Time Out
Wagner saw its two-game winning streak snapped with a 79-50 loss at Columbia on Sunday, December 10.

Junior Paige Lyons led all Seahawks with 18 points on 6-13 shooting from the floor and 2-4 shooting from three-point range. Lyons also tallied six assists and four steals against the Lions.

Graduate student Taleah Washngton scored 13 points on 5-9 shooting from the floor.

Taleah Washington & Paige Lyons Continue To Impress
Taleah Washington's 23 points at Saint Peter's on December 6 propelled the Seahawks to their second victory of the season. The District Heights, MD native shot 9-17 from the floor and 5-10 from three-point range in all 40 minutes played. In the fourth quarter against the Peacocks, Washington tallied a game-high eight points with two three-pointers made. With 13 points at Columbia, Washington has scored in double-figures in three consecutive games.

Paige Lyons tallied 13 points at Saint Peter's while connecting on two three-pointers. Lyons corralled two offensive rebounds in the win. The Atlanta, GA native led all Seahawks with 18 points at Columbia as she has scored in double-figures in back-to-back games.

Both Washington and Lyons were named Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performers honors for their efforts this past week.

Newcomers Making An Impact
Along with Washington and Lyons, freshman Drew Jordon scored in double-figures against Navy on November 30 and at Saint Peter's on December 6. Jordon tallied 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals at Saint Peter's.

Junior Semie Brar leads the Seahawks with 10.9 points per game and ranks eighth in the NEC in points per game.

Freshman Kiera Edmonds ranks fifth in the NEC with 6.6 rebounds per game while ranking tied for first in the NEC with 2.5 offensive boards per game.

Ball Hawks
Wagner ranks 95th in the nation and first in the NEC with 9.4 steals per game. Wagner has tallied double-digit steals in three games this season.

Paige Lyons ranks fifth in the NEC with 2.0 steals per game while Semie Brar ranks sixth with 1.9. Junior Rakisha Ballinger also ranks in the top-10 at eighth with 1.7 steals per game.

Wagner has recorded at least nine steals and six out of eight games this season.

Relentless On The Boards
Wagner ranks 111th in the nation with 13.0 offensive rebounds per game. Wagner's offensive rebounds per game total is tied for first in the NEC with Sacred Heart.

Scouting Maryland Eastern Shore
The Hawks come to Wagner seeking its first road win of the season. Overall, the Hawks are 5-5 on the season and 0-4 on the road.

No stranger to NEC opponents, Maryland Eastern Shore hosted FDU in its last contest and earned a 54-47 win.

The Series
Wagner will be seeking its second win against Maryland Eastern Shore in as many tries. Wagner earned a 72-60 win at Maryland Eastern Shore last season. The Seahawks tallied 10 steals against the Hawks last season.

What's Next
Wagner will take place in the Hawk Classic hosted by St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA on December 20 and 21. The Seahawks will play UAB on December 20 at 1:00 pm and Saint Joseph's or New Hampshire on December 21.
