Baseball Resumes Conference Play At Trenton Thunder Ballpark; Hosts FDU This Weekend

Trenton, NJ - The Wagner baseball team continues its homestand this weekend with a trio of Northeast Conference (NEC) games as the Seahawks welcome conference leaders, FDU, to Trenton Thunder Ballpark. 

Friday and Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with the series finale on Sunday slated for 1:00 p.m.  

Friday and Sunday's contest will be streamed live on NEC Front Row as Joey Jarzynka will have the call. All three games can be viewed via Live Stats as well.

  • The Seahawks dropped the opening game of its five-game homestand to Big East members, Seton Hall, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon. 
  • Wagner was limited to just four hits on the afternoon as Dante Faicchio, Griffin Selby, Lukas Torres, and Cody Bey each picked up hits for the Green & White. 
  • Michael Cunningham threw 2.1 innings scoreless innings out of the pen in relief of Zach Gorman
  • Nick LePre worked a scoreless ninth as the Staten Island made his 59th career appearance, moving into a tie with Mike D'Agnelis for 12th on the all-time career appearance list.

  • Wagner and FDU have met 160 times in program history with the Knights holding an 82-78 advantage in the head-to-head series. 
  • These two teams met seven times last season, with Wagner taking the season series, 4-3. 
  • The Seahawks dropped the last meeting to the Knights, 6-5, in Teaneck, as Wagner, was the home team. 

Seahawk Tidbits... 
  • Maimu Kobayashi leads the team with a .319 batting average. 
    • The first-year Seahawk has scored a team-high 31 runs while posting an on-base percentage of .448 to go along with a team-high six steals. 
  • Kobayashi and Dante Faicchio have reached base safely in 22 straight games while Lukas Torres is next, having reached safely in 17 consecutive games.
  • Faicchio is Wagner's leader in slugging percentage (.563), tied for the team lead in hits with Kobayashi (37), has driven in 33 RBI, and connected on eight home runs. 
    • Faicchio is currently tied for 12th on the single-season Wagner home run list with eight with Peter Delleani, who pelted eight in 2007. 
    • The next home run by Faicchio would tie him with former Seahawk slugger, Freddy Sabido, who connected on nine home runs back in 2017.

  • After finishing 9-28 and 8-22 in conference play a season ago, the Knights are currently in first place in the league, sporting an 18-18 overall record and a league-best 10-2 conference record. 
  • Through April 20, FDU leads the circuit in batting average, hitting a collective .291 while leading the conference in hits (348), home runs (37), on-base percentage (.397), runs scored (254), slugging percentage (.456), and stolen bases (74).
