Men's Lacrosse Set For Home Matchup With Mercer On Saturday; Start Time Moved Up To 10:00 AM

Staten Island, NY- The Wagner men's lacrosse team hosts Mercer on Saturday at Hameline Field with opening faceoff set for 10:00 a.m.
  

LAST TIME OUT…
  • Wagner defeated NJIT, 7-5, for its first win of the season in last Saturday's home opener on Grymes Hill.
  • Aidan Clark netted his second straight hat trick in the victory.
  • The Green & White also received two goals from Stephen Dwyer, and a goal each from Jack Brady and Matt Morris.
  • Tyler Lawton added two assists, upping his team-leading total to five on the season.
  • Goalkeeper Danny Brady recorded 14 saves in cage.
  • The Seahawks caused a season-high 14 turnovers against the Highlanders.
 
WAGNER NOTES…
  • Aidan Clark leads Wagner with eight goals and nine points. Stephen Dwyer is second on the team in goals (seven) and points (eight).
  • Danny Cassidy leads the Green & White with 12 groundballs.
  • Through four games, senior defenseman Matt Morris leads all Northeast Conference players with 2.5 caused turnovers per game.
  • Goalkeeper Danny Brady ranks second in the NEC in save percentage and saves per game, only trailing LIU's netminder Will Mark.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: MERCER…
  • Mercer was picked to finish fourth in the Southern Conference's preseason poll that features six teams.
  • The Bears enter Saturday's contest with a 3-4 record.
  • Mercer is coming off a 12-11 victory at Mount St. Mary's on Thursday on a Sean Goldsmith game-winning goal with under two minutes left in the game.
  • Goldsmith leads the Bears with 20 goals this season.
  • Goalkeeper Colin Kelley has tallied 84 saves in cage for Mercer this season.
 
SERIES HISTORY…
  • Saturday's matchup marks the sixth all-time meeting between the Seahawks and the Bears.
  • The last meeting came on February 29, 2020, with Mercer taking a 20-8 victory in Macon, GA.
  • The two teams will meet on Staten Island for the first time since March 12, 2017, when Mercer came away with a one-goal victory, 6-5.
