Bill McCutcheon has announced the team's captains for the upcoming 2023 season with graduate students
Tommy Scarpello and
CJ Sweitzer along with senior
Eli Fisher taking on leadership responsibilities.
"Our team is in great hands with these three leaders," McCutcheon said. "They compliment each other well with their personalities and abilities on the field."
Scarpello and Fisher were the lone captains on the roster for the 2022 season.
"Tommy and Eli return as captains from last season with Tommy now serving in this role for the third season," McCutcheon added. "Both players did a great job last season and have grown in their roles immensely."
Scarpello has appeared in 33 games while getting the starting nod 28 times. He started all 12 games for Wagner last season while scooping 15 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers.
The Tabernacle, NJ native played a role in a 2022 defense that was tied for the fewest goals against in the country last season with 121.
Eli Fisher returns as one of the captains of the Seahawks after starting in 11 out of 12 games last season and scoring three goals. Over his Wagner career, the Allentown, PA native has made 26 appearances while logging 23 starts. Fisher also has 45 career ground balls and 11 career caused turnovers.
CJ Sweitzer has been named as one of the captains of the Seahawks as a transfer from Bryant. At Bryant, the Hatfield, PA native played in 11 games in three seasons at Bryant and scored two goals.
"Despite arriving here in September as a graduate transfer, CJ has done a tremendous job this fall and made an immediate impression on his teammates and our coaching staff."
The Seahawks will open the 2023 season on February 18 when they welcome Fairfield to Hameline Field.
