Seven Former Seahawks Compete In Professional Baseball In 2022

Staten Island, NY- Seven former Wagner baseball players completed their 2022 professional seasons.
 
Nick Dini, Mike Adams, Nolan Long, Ben Ruta, Koby Bishop, Neil Abbatiello, and Joe Testa all appeared in games within professional baseball this season.
 
 
Nick Dini (2012-15 at Wagner)
 
Dini completed his seventh season in professional baseball in 2022 with the Syracuse Mets (AAA affiliate of the New York Mets). In 50 games, the former Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year hit .232 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs. Dini caught nine runners stealing in 36 tries. For his professional career, the 29-year-old has compiled a .282 batting average with 47 home runs and 206 RBIs.
 
Dini made his MLB debut in 2019 with the Kansas City Royals and most recently signed with the Mets organization last December on a minor league contract.
 
Mike Adams (2013-16 at Wagner)
 
Adams completed his second season in professional baseball in 2022 with the Reading Fightin Phils and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (AA and AAA affiliates of the Philadelphia Phillies, respectively). The right-handed pitcher appeared in 39 games and logged a 5.39 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched. Adams struck out 8.4 batters per nine innings this season.
 
Nolan Long (2014-15 at Wagner)
 
Long completed his sixth season in professional baseball in 2022 with the ACL Athletics and Stockton Ports (Rookie League and Single-A affiliates of the Oakland Athletics, respectively). The right-handed pitcher appeared in 13 games this season and logged a 5.73 ERA. Long's season began in July due to an injury that had kept him on the sidelines the previous two seasons.
 
Ben Ruta (2013-16 at Wagner)
 
Ruta completed his sixth season in professional baseball in 2022 with the Staten Island FerryHawks in the Atlantic League. The former New York Yankees draft pick played in 42 games and logged 151 plate appearances in the team's inaugural season.
 
Koby Bishop (2018-19 at Wagner)
 
Bishop completed his second season in professional baseball in 2022 with the Kane County Cougars of the American Association League. The left-handed pitcher appeared in 26 games, getting the start in eight of them. Bishop had 46 strikeouts in 56.2 innings.
 
Neil Abbatiello (2016-19 at Wagner)
 
Abbatiello completed his third season in professional baseball in 2022 with the Tri-City Valley Cats and Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League. The southpaw pitched in 34 games this season and struck out 45 batters in 37.2 innings.
 
Joe Testa (2005-08 at Wagner)
 
Testa completed his 14th season in professional baseball in 2022, serving as a player-coach in the Atlantic League for the Charleston Dirty Birds. The left-handed pitcher appeared in 37 games and recorded a 5.24 ERA.
