Men's Indoor Track And Track Opens 2022 At Wagner Invitational

Cuthbertson and Joshua Cadet finish first in respective events

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner men's indoor track and field team opened 2022 by hosting their second meet of the season at the Wagner College Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon. 
 
Overall, the Seahawks had a pair of first-place finishes. Joshua Cadet crossed the finish line first in the 200m, posting a time of 22.00 while William Cuthbertson led the way in the mile, setting a new Northeast Conference (NEC) top time of 4:12.38. 
 
For Cuthbertson, he moves to 19th on the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying list with his performance this afternoon. 
 
 Track Results…
  • Logan Murphey also competed in the 200m, as he finished among the top-15 with a time of 23.18. 
  • Cyril Babcanec was the lone Seahawk competing in the 400m, taking third overall with a time of 49.54. 
  • In the 800m, the Green & White were well represented, as Michael Hubert finished third with a time of 1:56.17. Teammates Andreas Lange and Mahmoud Abdalla concluded the race among the top-10, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively. 
  • In a field of 40 competitors, Cuthbertson led the way in the mile but wasn't the only Seahawk to put forth an impressive performance. Dominic Palermo rounded out the top-five finishers with a time of 4:18.88. 
  • Johnny Sokoll was among the top ten, finishing with a time of 4:20.33 while Justin Morris (4:28.13), Paul Siconolfi (4:29.75), and Muhammad Qadri (4:35.40) all placed in the top-25, respectively. 
  • Anthony Bentivegna took second overall in the 3000m, turning in a time of 8:30.59 while teammate Michael Ryan finished 19th with a time of 9:07.60. 
 
Relay Results…
  • The 4x400 squad, composed of Luke Cunningham, Abdalla, Hubert, and Babcanec, took fourth with a time of 3:24.58. 
 
Field Results…
  • Ryan Lane cleared 6.79m in the long jump to place second in the event. 
  • Teammate Kharlin Watkins rounded out the top-ten, leaping 6.20m to place tenth overall in the long jump. 
    • Earlier, Watkins finished fifth in the high jump, soaring 1.80m. 
  • Corey Durden finished seventh in both the shot put (13.96m) and the weight throw (15.16m).
  • Adrian Pocesta was among the top-15 in the weight throw, finishing with a toss of 13.28m. 
 
 Next Up For Wagner…
  • The Seahawks will return to Ocean Breeze on Saturday, January 15 to compete in the Penn 10-Team Select, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Quakers.
  • The competition is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
