Eugene, OR — Wagner track and field alum William Cuthbertson has advanced to the men's 800-meter finals at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships.
Cuthbertson ran a 1:45.66 in the quarterfinals to advance to heat three of the semifinals, which will be held Friday, August 1 at 6:38 p.m. EST. The top two runners from each semifinal, and the three next-fastest runners, will advance to the finals.
A student at Wagner from 2018 to 2022, Cuthbertson ran in distance events for the Seahawks and had his college best in the 800-meters in February 2020, running a 1:59.59 in Boston University's Scarlet and White Invite. Now running with the Empire Elite Track Club after completing his Wagner career, Cuthbertson has a chance at qualifying for the championship race.
If he posts a qualifying time in the semifinals, Cuthbertson will advance to the 800-meter finals on Sunday, August 3 at 4:46 p.m. EST. The meet broadcast is available here.
