Men’s Track & Field Rounds Out Outdoor Championship In Fourth

Easton, Mass. — Ending the Northeast Conference's outdoor championships with three individual gold medals, a Most Outstanding Performer nod and a 96.5-point team score, Wagner's men finished the meet in fourth place on Sunday.

Indoor champions Central Connecticut won the meet with a record-breaking score.

The Seahawks had their biggest performances in the field events, with junior Julio Martinez bringing home some serious hardware. He won the pole vault with a 4.75-meter clearance, earning Co-Most Outstanding Field Performer in jumps after five athletes tied with their individual scores.

Junior Christopher Milillo opened with a gold-medal hammer throw performance on Saturday. His 59.65-meter throw added ten points to the team total.

Junior Franklin Simms kicked off Sunday with an equally big performance — his 52.52-meter discus throw won gold and was almost five meters longer than the next closest. Simms also won bronze in the shot put.

Senior Maxime Ricci took home two silver medals, running a 14:38.09 time in the 5,000-meter run and a 32:24.87 time in the 10,000-meter run.

Freshman Julio Tatis won silver in the 400-meter dash with a 47.07-second time, just 0.19 seconds off first place. He also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash final with a 21.59-second time that added four more points for the Seahawks.

The 4x800-meter relay team, made up of senior Johnny Sokoll, freshman Ignacio San Juan, junior Hunter Longo and sophomore Eric Marquez, earned bronze with their 7:49.32 finish to add six points to the team total.

Freshman Amir Shockry joined Martinez in the pole vault competition, adding a 4.20-meter clearance to finish fifth and earn four more team points.

The 4x100-meter relay team, made up of freshman Jaden Hobbs, Tatis, sophomore Shawn Keegan and junior Dante Rodney, finished just off the podium in fourth place with a 41.41-second time that earned Wagner five points.

Junior Arjanvir Singh followed Tatis in the 400-meter fash with a 49.05-second time to finish seventh and add two team points. Freshman Ignacio San Juan finished eighth in the 800-meters to tack on another point for the Seahawks.
