Seahawks Earn Dominant 95-64 Victory Over FDU For 10th Win Of The Season

Staten Island, NY – Four Seahawks scored in double figures, led once again by graduate student Alex Morales, who contributed 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, as the Wagner College men's basketball team earned a dominant 95-64 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday night at the Spiro Sports Center.

With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 10-2 on the season, 6-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play, extend their win streak to seven games and remain undefeated at the Spiro Sports Center with a 6-0 mark at home. The win also marked the 100th career victory in conference play for head coach Bashir Mason, who recently picked up the 150th victory of his career.

Graduate student Elijah Ford finished with 16 points on 8-9 shooting, while redshirt-senior Raekwon Rogers and graduate student Will Martinez finished with 16 points apiece.

The Seahawks quickly jumped out to a comfortable lead, as a dunk by Ford made it 16-9 with 11:44 to play in the first half, before a bucket by Morales gave Wagner its first double-digit lead of the contest at 24-13 with 6:46 to play in the first period.

Wagner's defense held FDU to just 9-24 (37.5%) shooting from the field in the first half and 20-49 (40.8%) for the game.

After taking a 41-25 lead at the half, the Seahawks came out firing again in the second half, as multiple highlight-reel plays by Rogers, Ford, Morales, and freshman Javier Ezquerra extended the lead to as many as 36 points at 85-49 with 5:35 to play.

All 12 available players scored points on the night for the Seahawks, who held a 62-26 advantage in points in the paint and 23-4 edge in assists.

Wagner is now the lone undefeated team in NEC play and will take the road on Friday, January 21 for a New York City showdown at LIU, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
