Staten Island, NY – The Wagner men's lacrosse team welcome the Hobart Statesmen to Hameline Field for Senior Day on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Northeast Conference (NEC) action.
Wagner-Hobart History:
Hobart's won each of the six previous matchups, including a 13-7 final in the last meeting back in 2019.
Tim Schmidt had two goals in that game for the Seahawks, while
Stephen Dwyer and
Nic Ancona each scored once.
Last Time Out For Wagner
Down four at the half, Wagner out-scored Sacred Heart 8-2 in the second half last Wednesday, knocking off the Pioneers 11-9 for the program's first win of the season.
Dwyer matched his career-high with four goals, adding two assists, Schmidt matched his own career-high with two goals, and junior
Jack Brady doubled his career scoring total entering the game with a pair of goals.
Elsewhere for the Seahawks, graduate student
Philip Buque notched his team-leading 17th goal of the season, freshman
Nick Martini scored his second of the season, and sophomore defender
Nick Azzopardi scored his first collegiate goal.
In net, sophomore
Danny Brady notched 20 saves for the third time this season, posting a career-best .690 save percentage.
About Hobart
The Statesmen enter Tuesday 4-2 on the season, all Northeast Conference contests. All six of those games have been decided by four goals or fewer.
Ryan Archer leads the team with 11 assists and 20 points, Derrek Madonna has nine goals in his last two games and leads the team with 12, and Tommy Mott is second in goals (10) and third in points (12). Kevin Holtby has played every minute in net this season, posting a .578 save percentage thus far.
What's at Stake
The Statesmen currently sit in a tie for third in the NEC standings, but have yet to clinch an NEC Tournament berth. Wagner is looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2018 season.
