Fairfield, CT – The Wagner men's lacrosse team returns to action after nearly a month away from the field when they head north to Sacred Heart University for a 5:00 p.m. Northeast Conference (NEC) game Wednesday afternoon from Campus Field.

Wagner–Sacred Heart History:
The Pioneers have won each of the last three contests between the teams, most recently a 17-5 final on April 27, 2019. Nic Ancona had two goals in that game; Stephen Dwyer and Jack Brady each scored once.

Logan Liljeberg had four goals and six points for Sacred Heart, while Drew Edwards scored twice.

Last Time Out For Wagner:
The Seahawks have not been in action since Saturday, March 27, in an 18-13 loss to the Long Island University (LIU) Sharks.

Dwyer finished with season-highs in goals (three) and assists (three), Ancona finished with a career-high five assists, adding a goal as well, and freshman Justin White recorded his first collegiate hat trick, adding two assists; Dwyer and White earned NEC Prime Performer recognition for their performances.

Graduate student Philip Buque notched his fourth hat trick of the season, senior Tim Schmidt matched his career-high with two goals, and senior defender Matt Morris added his first goal of the season for the Seahawks.

Sophomore Brendan Higgins finished with four ground balls and two caused turnovers, junior Matt Reuter won 15-of-30 face-offs, finishing with four ground balls as well, and the trio of Connor Stewart, Tommy Scarpello, and Benjamin Stewart all finished with at least one ground ball and one caused turnover.

About Sacred Heart:
The Pioneers enter Wednesday on a seven-game losing streak and are 1-9 on the season overall.

Liljeberg and Edwards are the team's leading scorers, with Liljeberg the team leader in assists (22) and points (37) and Edwards the leader in goals (26). Sal Miccio and Trevor Johnson have each scored 10 times as well.

Colton King has started 8 of 10 games between the pipes, but Peter Callahan started the team's most recent game against Merrimack last Saturday.
