Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's lacrosse team kicks off its 2021 Northeast Conference (NEC) schedule Saturday, March 6 at 12 p.m. at Hameline Field against the Saint Joseph's University Hawks.
Wagner-Saint Joseph's History:
The Seahawks dropped the last contest between the two teams, 14-6, back in April of 2019. Wagner led 3-1 early, but the Hawks utilized 4-0 scoring advantages in both the second and fourth quarters in the win.
Last Time Out For Wagner:
The Seahawks fell 18-6 to #20 Hofstra University in a non-conference contest last Tuesday, March 2.
Graduate student
Philip Buque notched his second hat trick in as many games to lead the Green and White. Fellow graduate student
Matt Cechini, junior
John Killcommons, and sophomore
Benjamin Stewart all found the back of the net once.
Senior
Matt Morris and freshman
Daren Mayer each scooped three ground balls, freshman
Bobby Blewett won nine face-offs, and sophomore goalie
Danny Brady made a career-best 13 saves.
About Saint Joseph's:
The Hawks have faced three teams all ranked or receiving votes in national polls thus far, dropping all three games, most recently to #6/#7/#7 Army last Saturday, February 27. Saint Joseph's also went to overtime in their season opener with Towson.
Matt Bohmer ranks first on the team in goals (six) and points (seven). Austin Strazzulla ranks second on the team in goals (four) and is tied for second in points (five) with Levi Anderson.
