Former Seahawk Pitcher Mike Adams Signs Deal with Philadelphia Phillies

Staten Island, NY – Former Wagner baseball pitcher Mike Adams has agreed to terms on a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.

With the Adams signing the Seahawks now have six players in Major League Baseball organizations.

"Everyone in Seahawk Nation is ecstatic for Mike and this professional baseball opportunity with the Philadelphia Phillies," commented Wagner head baseball coach, Jim Carone. "Mike is in love with the game of baseball. He is a tireless worker and lifelong learner. We wish him the best and are excited to follow his progress with the Phillies!"

Adams logged a career-high 75.1 innings as a senior and finished his career with 11 wins in 34 starts. He amassed 161 strikeouts and four saves over 220.1 innings in 61 career appearances at Wagner. The 161 career strikeouts rank 11th all-time in program history.

After graduating from Wagner in 2016, Adams, a hard-throwing right-hander, pitched one season for the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League (now, New York Boulders of the Frontier League).

For the Boulders, Adams tossed 66.0 innings over 16 games while earning the start 11 times. He collected five wins and struck out 30 batters on the season for the year.

The Egg Harbor Township, NJ native made his professional debut for Rockland on Jun 29, 2016 on the road at Sussex County.

Adams earned his first career win on July 4 in a 14-3 victory over Trois-Rivieres. Three weeks later, he threw a complete-game, four-hitter in a 9-3 rout of Sussex County on July 26, in which he struck out a season-best five batters.

Last season, Adams pitched for Margate of the Atlantic County Baseball League (ACBL). Adams fanned 10 batters in seven innings of work as Margate picked up a 9-6 victory against Northfield in the ACBL Championship.

In 2017, Adams became co-owner of the Baseball Performance Center (BPC) in his hometown of Pleasantville, NJ. BPC is a training and development facility that supplies college coaches and pro scout's data and analytics on players. Additionally, Adams worked as a scout for the Milwaukee Brewers.

According to Patrick Mulranen of The Press of Atlantic City, "on January 18, Adams participated in a pro baseball showcase at Maplezone Sports Institute in Philadelphia. With representatives from all 30 MLB teams in attendance, Adams opened some eyes with throws topping 98 mph." (Link to full article
