Nanaimo, British Columbia – Wagner men's lacrosse senior Dylan Kaminski was recently selected 12th overall by the Nanaimo Timbermen in the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) Senior A Draft.

The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) is an amateur men's Senior A box lacrosse league sanctioned by the Canadian Lacrosse Association. It consists of seven teams, based in cities throughout southwestern British Columbia.

Each summer, the teams battle for the right to win their province to face the champion from Major Series Lacrosse (a Senior A box lacrosse league based in Ontario, Canada and sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association) for the Mann Cup every September. The championship site alternates between Ontario and British Columbia each year.

Kaminski spent three years in the BCJALL (British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League) for the Burnaby Lakers. During his time in Burnaby, Kaminski accumulated 82 points (46g, 36a) in 28 games.

"It was an honor to be drafted to Nanaimo, and it will be the next big part in my lacrosse career, said Kaminski." "I grew up watching the WLA so being able to play in the league will be a dream come true. I would like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches that have helped me get to this point."

The caliber of lacrosse in the WLA is very high, as the majority of its players also play in the National Lacrosse League during the winter months, with the WLA regular season schedule running from mid-May to August. The Timbermen, a former Mann Cup champion, have made the WLA playoffs each of the last two seasons.

Kaminski and the Seahawks return to action this Saturday at 1 p.m. against the LIU Sharks from Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
