Newark, NJ – The Wagner College men's lacrosse team takes to the road on Saturday to face the NJIT Highlanders at noon in its final non-conference contest of the season.
Both teams come into this matchup in search of their second victory as the Seahawks are 1-7 on the season while NJIT is 1-8.
Wagner and NJIT have faced four common opponents in Lafayette, VMI, Quinnipiac and Monmouth. The Highlanders have posted the lone win among these four foes, an 8-5 victory over Monmouth.
The Seahawks are coming off a 13-7 loss at Hobart last Saturday in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener for both teams.
Offensively, junior attack
Dominic Branda leads the Seahawks with 18 points (14g, 4a), followed by senior attackman
John Norton (6g, 8a) and senior midfielder
Spencer Kaufman (8g, 5a), who check in with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Tied for fourth with nine points each are freshman midfielder

Defensively, the Seahawks are paced by their starting back line of defensemen, sophomore
Kyle Stofko (22 ct, 16 gb), along with seniors
Kevin Doherty (13 ct, 7 gb), and
Connor Davis (6 ct, 10 gb).
Senior midfielder
Riley Owens paces the Seahawks with 26 ground ball, along with 12 caused turnovers.
In goal, senior
Matt Sefcik owns a goals against average of 10.35 (23
rd in nation), and a save percentage of .536 (29
th in nation).
Junior
Nick Warren is Wagner's primary faceoff specialist, and has gone 7-of-170 (.453) in the X.
Following the NJIT game, the Seahawks will close the 2019 regular season with five consecutive NEC contests, beginning with a home date on Saturday, March 30 vs. Bryant.
