2019 Seahawk Shootout Results
Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's indoor track and field team hosted the first of two meets this season, the 2019 Seahawk Shootout, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon.
In all, Wagner had three first-place finishes, led by sophomore
William Cuthbertson, who took home first-place honors in the mile. Junior
Trausti Thorstein placed first in the 3000m and also posted an IC4A qualifying time.
Lastly, the 4x400 squad took top billing at the meet.
Track Results
- 300m
- Sophomore Joshua Cadet was among the top-five while teammate Cyril Babcanec placed among the top-ten with Cadet posting a time of 35.30 while Babcanec crossed the finish line in 35.77.
- 600m
- Similar to the 300m results, sophomore Thomas Corel and classmate Mahmoud Abdalla were among the top-ten in the event.
- Corel set the new school record, as he clocked in at 1:20.35, which surpasses the previous benchmark, set by former Seahawk, Quincy Rasin, in which he finished at 1:21.46 at this same meet back on December 8, 2017.

- Abdalla clocked in with a time of 1:25.24 while senior Alvin Sime was among the top-20 with a time of 1:29.16.
- Mile
- Cuthbertson and senior Nick Velez represented the Green & White in the event, with Cuthbertson sprinting past the fellow competitors in taking home first-place honors with a time of 4:24.30.

- Velez rounded out the top-three performances with a time of 4:32.80.
- 3000m
- Wagner managed to take the top-four spots in the 3000m, led by Thorstein, who claimed first with an IC4A qualifying time of 8:16.17.
- Additionally, Thorstein rewrote the Seahawk record books, besting the previous program record, set by his current Jonathan Besselink, who clocked in at 8:20.96 at the 2018 IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championship.
- Besselink also recorded an IC4A qualifying time, crossing the finish line at 8:26.92 to place second in the event.
- Junior Robert Guidicipietro and graduate transfer Ben Finnigan finished third and fourth, respectively, with Guidicipietro clocking in with a time of 8:49.62 while Finnigan finished at 8:55.85.
- Rounding the Seahawk performances in the event was freshman Dominic Palermo, who finished eighth with a time of 9:05.76 while sophomore Sean Weir was among the top-12 with a time of 9:14.54.
- 60 Hurdles
- Freshman Josiah Cadet was among the top-ten finishers in the 60 hurdles, as he clocked in with a time of 8.65.

Field Results
- High Jump
- Juniors Andrew Ramsammy and Keegan Reidy each participated in the high jump with Ramsammy coming in third with a leap of 1.95m while Reidy posted a finals mark of 1.75m.
- Long Jump
- Ramsammy's afternoon continued in the long jump, as he placed tenth overall, clearing 6.05m.
- Shot Put
- Sophomores Corey Durden and Michael Pepe finished third and fourth in the shot put, with Durden heaving the shot put 14.54m while Pepe tossed it 14.31m.
- Weight Throw
- Durden, Pepe, and freshman Adrian Pocesta competed for Wagner in the event, with Durden and Pepe finishing third and fifth, respectively, while Pocesta was among the top-15.
- Durden cleared 15.54m while Pepe was able to reach 14.61m.
- Pocesta cleared 13.01m in concluding the results for Wagner.
