Orlando, FL – The Wagner baseball team will spend its Spring Break in the Sunshine State as the Seahawks gear up for a total of five games over the next six days, beginning with a three-game series at the No. 23-ranked University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights of the American Athletic Conference (AAC).
 

All-Time Series With The University of Central Florida:

• Wagner will be looking for its first ever win against the Knights as UCF holds a 15-0 edge in the head-to-head series.
• These teams last met back in 2011 with the Knights sweeping the three-game series.
• All time against current members of the AAC, the Green & White are looking for their first win as they are 0-17-1.
• Wagner's last time against a member from The American was back in February, 2015 when the Seahawks went 0-2-1 at the University of South Florida, with the tie occurring on the last day of the three-game set.

 
 

Scouting Wagner:

• The Seahawks enter the weekend series with UCF at 3-3 after dropping its first mid-week contest of the season at Big Ten member Rutgers this past Tuesday.
• Through the first six games, junior Joe Silvestrone and senior Kyle Cala lead the team in hitting with a .333 batting average.
• Senior Nick Mascelli has a team-high three doubles while junior catcher Phil Capra paces the club with two home runs and seven RBIs.
• Dating back to last season, senior infielder Sean Mazzio has reached back safely in 27 contests.

 
Scouting The University of Central Florida Knights:

• UCF enters the weekend series ranked No. 23 in the country and has rattled off four straight wins, most recently sweeping last weekend's home slate against Savannah State.
• Rylan Thomas leads the club with a .419 batting average while he, Tyler Osik and Dallas Beaver each have one home run on the season. Thomas is the leading RBI producer with nine through eight games.
• The Knights are a threat to steal when they get runners on base, as they have swiped 32-of-33 so far this season with Matthew Mika, Ray Alejo and Brandon Hernandez combing to steal 21-of-21 so far this season. Mike and Alejo are tied for the team lead with eight stolen bases.
• On the mound, UCF's hurlers have pitched to the tune of 2.03 ERA over the first eight games of the season as Chris Williams leads the way with two wins while JJ Montgomery leads UCF with 19 strikeouts thus far.
• The Knights' pitching staff have stifled opposing hitters, striking out a total of 86 batters while limiting hitters to a combined .206 batting average.

 
 

• The Seahawks remain in Florida as they will take on Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member Virginia Tech in DeLand, FL on Tuesday, March 6.
