Bryant 70, Wagner 60
Spiro Sports Center, Staten Island, NY
Sydney Holloway scored 24 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, leading the Bryant women's basketball team to a 70-60 comeback victory over Wagner in a President's Day matinee on February 19 at the Spiro Sports Center. Wagner had it going early, opening the second quarter on a 12-0 run which helped the Seahawks build an 18-point lead before the Bulldogs sliced the deficit in half, making it a 37-28 game at the intermission. Bryant outscored Wagner 18-13 in the third quarter to draw to within four points at 50-46 heading to the fourth. Bryant then opened the final frame with a 13-5 burst, capped by a Naomi Ashley layup with 3:44 to play in taking a 59-55 lead. Wagner closed the margin to one on a top-of-the-key three-pointer by redshirt freshman guard
Morgan Lenahan, but this is as close the Green & White would get as the Bulldogs pulled away for the 10-point win. Lenahan, buoyed by a 4-of-8 shooting day from three-point range. led the way for Wagner with 17 points, two shy of her career high, while fifth-year senior forward
Sierra Clark and redshirt freshman forward
Taylah Simmons added 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Seahawks were able to build their first-half lead without the services of Clark who was forced to the bench due to early foul trouble as all 12 of her points, and all of her eight rebounds came in the second half. Freshman guard
Alayshia Dailey finished with six points on 2-of-2 shooting for the afternoon, while fellow freshman guard
Khaleah Dixon-Edwards, junior guard Nakyila Carter, and senior guard
Tanasia Russell all wound up with five points apiece. In addition to Holloway's game-high 24-point total, Ashley and Stephanie Lesko each supplied 12 points for the Bulldogs as Bryant gained a split of the season series.
