Wagner | Yale

Staten Island, NY  – The Wagner College women's basketball team returns home following their two-game, three-day stay in Burlington, VT for the TD Bank Classic, as they welcome the Yale University Bulldogs to the Spiro Sports Center on Tuesday evening.

Last Time Out For Wagner:
  • For the second straight game, the Wagner College women's basketball team forced the game into overtime, but this time against the Siena College Saints in the consolation game of the 2018-19 TD Bank Classic, the two teams needed a second overtime session, which favored the Saints as they edged the Seahawks, 74-71, on Saturday evening at Brennan Court at Patrick Gym on the campus of the University of Vermont.
  • Following the conclusion of the two-day Thanksgiving holiday tournament, it was announced that sophomore wing Khaleah Edwards was named to the TD Bank Classic All-Star team, after leading her squad with a team-high 19 points this evening on the heels of a seven-point, seven-rebound, four-assist effort vs. Vermont in the opener on Friday afternoon.
  • Saturday's double-overtime thriller was Wagner's first double-OT contest since January 30, 1999, when the Seahawks defeated Monmouth, 90-85.
  • Moreover, it is the first loss in double overtime since January 26, 1991, when the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights bested the Seahawks, 87-80.
  • Edwards, who set a career high in scoring tonight, surpassing her previous high of 16 set earlier this month at Fordham, went 6-of-11 from the field which included a career-best five made three-pointers in 44 minutes of action. The London, England native filled up the stat sheet, finishing with six rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal in 44 minutes of action.

Wagner | Yale Series...
  • Wagner is looking for its first win over Yale in six attempts (0-5), after dropping their last meeting to the Bulldogs, 66-52, back on November 30, 2016 at the Spiro Sports Center.

Wagner vs. The Ivy League...
  • Yale is the lone Ivy League opponent Wagner will face this season and are 23-30 all-time against the eight-school conference.
  • The Seahawks have played Columbia the most times, holding a 16-8 all-time record against the Lions.
  • Wagner is winless against four Ivy League teams: Brown (0-1), Harvard (0-2), Pennsylvania (0-2) and Yale (0-5)

Follow (The) Kha-Leader...
  • In addition to her career night against the Saints, Edwards also rejected three shots against both Vermont and Siena, both are career-highs.
Simmons Seeing Double...
  • Sophomore Taylah Simmons produced her first double-double of the season and third of her career, as she finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the 74-71 double overtime setback against Siena.

  • Simmons, is second on the squad in points (12.0 ppg) and rebounds (6.5), while also ranking second in assists, dishing out 3.0 a contest.
  • Edwards, who averaged 4.6 ppg a season ago, has doubled her offensive production, averaging 10.8 ppg through the first six contests.
  • The recently completed TD Bank Classic, hosted by the University of Vermont, was Wagner's first in-season tournament since 2013-14, where they took on Eastern Michigan and Stony Brook in the Seawolves Holiday Classic at Stony Brook.

Six Pack Of Scoring...
  • Since the 1998-99 season, only once has Wagner had at least six players score in double figures in a contest, as this happened on Wednesday at Longwood, en route to 86-60 victory.
  • The last time Wagner had five players score in double digits was back on February 4, 2017 in a 74-66 victory at Fairleigh Dickinson  (Julia McClure, 15 | Tanasia Russell, 13 | Corinn Baggs, 10 | Kerstie Phills, 18 | Kellie Crouch 13).
  • Additionally, the Green & White are now 4-2 overall when five or more players hit for ten or more points.
