Brooklyn, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team will play its first of two local Northeast Conference (NEC) road games on Saturday when the Seahawks square off with LIU Brooklyn in a 2:00 p.m. start at the Steinberg Wellness Center in the first game of a doubleheader with the Seahawks' and Blackbirds' men's teams meeting at 4:30 p.m.

St. Francis Brooklyn On Tap Next 
On Monday, January 15, the Seahawks again cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to face the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers in a 1:00 p.m. Martin Luther King Day matinee.

All-Time Series
This is the 83rd all-time meeting between the schools and LIU Brooklyn holds a 47-35 lead in the all-time series. These teams will meet again on Staten Island on February 5 in a 7:00 p.m. start.

First NEC Opening Game Win In Six Years
The Seahawks' 75-66 victory at Bryant on December 29 marked Wagner's first NEC-opening game win in six years, since December 3, 2011, when the Wagner topped St. Francis Brooklyn by a 49-45 count on Staten Island. 

Former DII All-American Clark Getting It Done in D-I
Fifth-year senior forward Sierra Clark (Hughesville, MD / Archbishop Spalding), who was recruited to and played for Heather Jacobs at Adelphi University where she went on to earn Division II All-American honors last season, is averaging 16.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Through 15 games, the 5-11 Clark has six double-doubles, six 20-point games, and 22 double-digit scoring efforts to her credit.

he Wagner women's basketball team led 16-12 after the first quarter and took a 27-23 lead into the half before Sacred Heart turned the game around with a big third quarter and went on to record a 72-55 Northeast Conference (NEC) victory On Monday night at the Spiro Sports Center. With the loss, the Seahawks fell to 3-12 on the season, 1-3 in NEC play while the Pioneers improved to 6-9 overall and are now 2-2 in league. Sacred Heart's Katherine Haines led the way by for the Pioneers by recording a double-double with game highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds. Adrian Hagood added 16 points for SHU while Candi Leatherwood finished with 10. Wagner came out of the gates with great energy, jumping out to an early 8-2 lead with fifth-year senior forward Sierra Clark scoring six of those eight points. After taking a 16-12 lead after one quarter on 57 percent shooting (8-of-14). the Seahawks opened the second quarter on a 6-0 spurt in building a 22-12 lead, before the Pioneers closed the half with an 11-5 run to trim the Wagner lead to 27-23 at the break. Clark paced Wagner with eight first-half points, to go with four rebounds and two steals. Redshirt freshman Taylah Simmons also played a solid first half with six point on 3-of-6 shooting while dishing out a pair of assists. Junior guard Nakylia Carter and freshman guard Alayshia Dailey each made the most of their starting assignments, finishing the half with five and four points, respectively. While not finding the scoring column in the first half, redshirt freshman guard Morgan Lenahan made her presence felt with a team-high five rebounds, along with two assists. After Sacred Heart outscored Wagner 14-8 to begin the second half, a Sierra Clark jumper with 4:33 left in the third quarter brought the Seahawks within two points at 37-35. SHU then closed the quarter on an 11-3 spurt in taking a 48-38 lead into final frame. The Pioneers then scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter, making it a 19-3 run bridging the quarters, in building a 59-40 lead and the teams traded baskets from there. Simmons led the Seahawks, recording her first career double-double by matching her career high with 15 points and setting a new career mark with 10 rebounds. Clark added 14 points and eight rebounds while Dailey finished with nine points on the evening. Wagner outshot SHU 46 percent to 39 percent, and won the battle of the board by a 41-30 advantage. The Seahawks matched their career high with 19 assists (Longwood, 12/10) but were undone by committing 26 turnovers. Sacred Heart was credited with 13 assists and turned the ball over just 10 times. Sacred Heart led in points off turnovers (28-9), points in the paint (44-36), and second-chance points (15-12), while the Seahawks held the edge in fast break points (6-2) and bench scoring (7-5). The game was tied four times and there were three lead changes.
