Charlottesville, VA - The Wagner baseball team continues its road trip of Virginia as they get set to tangle with the defending College World Series (CWS) champions, the No. 10 ranked University of Virginia Cavaliers.  The Green & White and Cavaliers are slated to play a pair of games on Tuesday, March 8 and Wednesday, March 9 from Davenport Field.

QUICK HITS: Wagner earned its first series sweep on Sunday when the Seahawks swept both games of the doubleheader, 8-1 in Game 1 and 6-1 in Game 2 against Norfolk State. Junior shortstop Nick Mascelli (Clifton, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) continues his torrid start to the season, batting .625 through five games and went 7-for-10 in the two victories over the Spartans on Sunday.

PREVIEWING VIRGINIA CAVALIERS: Virginia is the defending College World Series (CWS) champions and enters today's contest with a 7-4 record.
In its last series, the Cavaliers were able to take two of three from the Monmouth University Hawks, despite dropping the series finale, 6-4.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP: This mid-week series is only the second and third meetings between the two schools. The Cavaliers took that meeting, 5-2, back on March 18, 2009. 

SCOUTING # 10 VIRGINIA CAVALIERS: UVa was recently ranked No. 10 by Baseball America, No. 14 by the NCBWA, No. 18 D1Baseball.com and USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Cavaliers have produced 57 hits coming with two outs. Virginia has outscored its opponents 59-16 in the first five innings of games this season.
