Richmond, VA - The Wagner baseball team concludes its season-high ten game road trip as they take on the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Rams, March 11-13 at The Diamond in Richmond, VA. 

Wagner (3-4) enters the weekend looking to snap a mini two-game slide after falling in back-to-back games to No. 10 ranked, and defending College World Series (CWS) champions, the University of Virginia Cavaliers.

VCU (6-5) had its three-game winning streak broken on Wednesday, falling to Old Dominion, 3-1. 

PROBABLE STARTERS:
WAGNER:
Friday:  Junior RHP Austin Goeke (1-1; 4.50 ERA)
Saturday: Senior LHP Matt Morris  (1-0; 2.25 ERA)
Sunday: Senior RHP Mike Adams (0-2; 7.36 ERA)

VCU:

SETTING THE SCENE:
The final stop of Wagner's nine-game tour of the state of Virginia concludes in Richmond as the Seahawks get set to square off against the VCU Rams. 

PREVIEWING VCU RAMS:
  • The Rams finished the 2015 season with a 40-25 overall record while clinching the Atlantic 10 (A-10) championship and advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals. 
  • This season, VCU is 6-4 overall but a perfect 3-0 at The Diamond. 
  • Collectively, the Rams are hitting just .251 for the season while slugging .345.
  • Brody Cook is the team's leading hitter at .385 while Matt Davis is the team's leader in home runs (2) and Walker Haymaker in RBIs (10). ?

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
  • This weekend's series marks the tenth, eleventh and twelfth meeting between the two squads, with VCU holding an 8-1 all-time lead in the head-to-head series.
  • Wagner and VCU will be meeting for the first time in exactly three years as the Rams took that meeting, 11-8

ON DECK:
  • The Seahawks' home opener is scheduled for March 19 at Richmond County Bank Ballpark as the Green & White squares off against the Fordham University Rams
  • Saturday's doubleheader has is slated for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch
