Smithfield, RI - Led by the nation's leading scorer, junior guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bertram), a Nancy Lieberman Award candidate who averages 27.7 ppg. and became Wagner's all-time leading scorer last week, the Seahawk women's basketball travels to first-place Bryant for a 1:00 p.m. tip this afternoon.

Top 10 Scoring List in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball

The Series
This is the 12th all-time meeting between the schools and Bryant holds a 10-1 lead in the all-time series.

Last Time vs. Bryant (January 9, 2016, Spiro Sports Center, Staten Island, NY)
Jasmine Nwajei tossed in a game-high 27 points despite being sidelined for an eight-minute stretch in the second half due to foul trouble, and sophomore guard Tanasia Russell (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) scored a career-high 20 points, but Bryant was able to rally for an 82-71 win. The Bulldogs were extremely balanced offensively as three players, Bailey, Alex Klein, and Breanna Rucker, shared team-high honors with 17 points each. Winder and Morgan Olander supplied 13 and 11 points, respectively, as Bryant placed five players in double digits on the afternoon.

Nwajei Continues to Score at Torrid, Record-Breaking Pace
Jasmine Nwajei is coming off yet another memorable week where she averaged 28.0 Points, 5.0 Rebs, 3.5 Assts, 2.5 Stls in the Seahawks' two games this week. On Feb. 6, she tossed in 23 points vs. Fairleigh Dickinson and, in the process, became the leading scorer in Wagner women's basketball history. A third-quarter three-pointer allowed Nwajei to break a scoring record that had stood for 30 years as she surpassed Stephanie Samuels (1,835 points, 1982-86) for the No. 1 spot. Nwajei shot 8-of-17 from the field vs. the Knights, while adding four assists, four steals and three rebounds. On Monday, it was learned that the 5-8 guard was one of 10 candidates for the Nancy Lieberman Award as the nation's top point guard. She then went out and scored 33 vs. the Mount on Monday, to go with seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Nwajei's Top 3 Scoring Games this Season
1.     Jasmine Nwajei – 53 – vs. Sacred Heart (1/24/16)
2.     Jasmine Nwajei – 52 – at St. Francis Brooklyn (2/1/16)
3.     Jasmine Nwajei – 45 – vs. Stony Brook (12/18/15)

Roma Rules the Boards
Last time out vs. Mount St. Mary's on Monday, sophomore Sofia Roma  suffered a leg injury which limited her to eight minutes  of playing time and two rebounds, which put a dent in her season average.  For the season, the 6-2 Roma averages 10.3 rpg., second in the NEC behind Bryant's Breanna Rucker, and her average in conference play is a league-best 12.3 rpg. Roma owns the top four rebounding games by an NEC player this season:

22 vs. Mount St. Mary's (1/30)
20 vs. Central Conn. (1/16)
18 vs. Lafayette (12/9)
17 vs. Bryant (1/9)

Wade Career High vs, FDU
Senior guard Tessa Wade (Penn Valley, PA/Lower Merion) was hot early vs. FDU (2/6), scoring all 12 of her career-high 12 points in the opening half on a sharp 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range, while Russell added eight for the Seahawks.

Rowe Added to Injury List
For the last two games,  Wagner has been without the services of starting guard Lyndsay Rowe (South River, NJ/St. John Vianney) who joined starters Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) and Alexis Smith (Medford, NY/St. John the Baptist/Illinois) on the injury report.
