The Seahawks fall to 22-17-1 and 10-5 in the league while the Mountaineers now stand at 11-26 overall and 9-10 in conference action. Wagner has company atop of the league standings as Bryant University is also 10-5 after earning a split today against Sacred Heart.

Freshman 3B
Sean Mazzio (West Chester, PA/Salesianum School [DE]) was the lone Seahawk to record a multi-hit game as the first-year corner infielder went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the loss. Senior 1B
Tommy Mazurkiewicz (Neshanic Station, NJ/Somerville) went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs while sophomore SS
Nick Mascelli (Clifton, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) and senior 2B
Nick Dini (Monroe Township, NJ/Monroe Township) added one RBI apiece.
Mazzio kicked off the top of the third with a solid single up the middle. Senior CF
Trey Nicosia (State College, PA/State College Area) sent a double to left center, advancing Mazzio over to third base. Mazzio scored the game's first run on a wild pitch from Mount's Nick DeCarlo. Dini singled to center after fouling off five straight pitches as Nicosia crossed the plate to give Wagner a 2-0 advantage. Mountaineer starting pitcher Nick DeCarlo then uncorked another wild pitch as Mascelli crossed the plate while Dini and junior LF
Ben Ruta (West Windsor, NJ/West-Windsor Plainsboro South moved up to second and third base, respectively. Mazurkiewicz then singled down the left field line on a 1-2 pitch as Ruta and Dini both scored to extend Wagner's lead to 5-0.
The Mountaineers answered with a five-run bottom of the fourth that was kicked off by a Brian Parreira two-run home run, scoring Zach Hostetter, to get the Mount on the board. Ryan Owens singled down the right field line as Joshua Lenig scored from second to make it 5-3. Andrew Clow then sent a single to left, cutting the deficit to 5-4 and on the next at-bat, Kory Britton reached base on a fielding error by Mazurkiewicz, which plated across Owens to tie the game at 5-5.

The Mount capitalized on two Wagner errors in which the Mountaineers were able to score three times to take an 8-5 lead. Wagner attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh as Mazzio doubled to right center. Nicosia moved Mazzio over to third on a ground out to the first base side. Mascelli also grounded out to score Mazzio from third, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback attempt as Ruta bounced out to first to end the game.
Wagner, which earned a 7-2 win in last night's series opener, will look for the series split as the fpur-game split concludes on Sunday with first pitch set for 1:00 pm.
