Baseball Drops 7-2 Decision At Saint Joseph’s

- The Wagner baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision this afternoon to the Saint Joseph's Hawks on the opening day of the Big Five Baseball Bash.

Trailing 7-0, the Seahawks pushed across two runs in the ninth inning on an RBI groundout by senior catcher Jason Gordon (Baltimore, MD / Archbishop Curley) and a single by senior centerfielder Trey Nicosia (State College, PA / State College).

Nicosia, senior first baseman Tommy Mazurkiewicz (Neshanic Station, NJ / Somerville) and junior leftfielder Ben Ruta (West Windsor, NJ / West-Windsor Plainsboro South) supplied two hits apiece for the Seahawks.

Fifth-year senior lefty Matt Morris (Matawan, NJ / St. John Vianney) absorbed the loss for Wagner after allowing five hits and four earned runs while striking out four in 4 1/3 innings of work.

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 3-9 on the season while the Seahawks saw their season record fall to 0-8-1.
