New Haven, CT – The Wagner women's basketball team, fresh off its first win of the season, a convincing 76-53 home victory over NJIT on Wednesday, face a tall task in looking to make it two in a row when the Seahawks travel to Yale University on Sunday, December 6 for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at the Lee Amphitheater.

Junior guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum), the nation's No. 2 scorer a year ago, recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and junior forward Jackie Dluhi tossed in a career-high 17 points to carry Wagner to the victory over NJIT.

The Seahawks enter Sunday's play with a 1-4 record after opening the season with defeats to high major conference foes Pittsburgh of the ACC, Old Dominion of the Atlantic 10, No. 7 Ohio State, which plays in the Big 10 and SEC member Ole Miss. Yale, meanwhile, are an impressive 5-3 on the young season. After running past Manhattan 62-56, the Bulldogs dropped a hard-fought 65-61 contest to Army last time out.

Recapping NJIT (Dec. 2, 2015 at Spiro Sports Center, Staten Island, NY
Jasmine Nwajei and Jackie Dluhi helped Wagner fire a season-high 46% from the floor (26-of-47) and a season-best 47% (15-of-32) from three-point range with Dluhi leading the way with 5-of-7 marksmanship from beyond the arc.The five made three-pointers were a career high for the Jersey Shore native who entered the season with just two made three-pointers in her career. The 5-11 Dluhi entered the game with six made three-pointers and tonight, was a perfect 3-of-3 in the first quarter alone. Fifth-year senior guard Alexis Smith (Medford, NY/St. John the Baptist), a first-year Seahawk and a transfer from the University of Illinois, registered a season-high 14 points, while junior forward Taylor Butigian (Rockaway Park, NY/Christ the King) came off the bench to hit for a season-high 11 as Wagner placed four players in double figures. Smith, a 5-9 guard who scored more than 400 points in her three-year career in the Big 10 at Illinois, was 6-of-14 from the floor, highlighted by 4-of-8 shooting from deep. Butigian was 4-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Leah Horton paced NJIT with 16 while Ronni Grandison and Kelly Guarino chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Seahawks distributed a season-high 24 assists with just 13 turnovers, outshot the Highlanders, 46%-36%, and held the advantage in points in the paint (14-8), points off turnovers (18-11), second-chance points (14-6) and fast-break points (6-0). NJIT, meanwhile, held a slight 34-31 edge in the rebounding department.

The Series vs. Yale
The contest with the Bulldogs will mark the third meeting all-time between the schools with Yale holding a 3-0 edge. These teams last met a year ago on Staten Island with Yale coming away with a 90-65 victory on December 17, 2014.

Last Time vs. Yale
Jasmine Nwajei () tossed in 32 points, which came on the heels of a  39-point outburst at Vermont, but Yale was able to break open a close game with a pivotal run midway through the second half en route to a 90-65 win at the Spiro Sports Center. The Bulldogs led 40-32 at halftime and when Nwajei converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 14:39 to play, the Seahawks were back to within a single-digit deficit of nine at 51-42. Yale countered, however, with a 14-5 run over the next 5:30, capped by a Sarah Halejian jumper in the lane with 9:09 left. This bucket widened the Bulldogs' lead to 18, at 65-47 and the Seahawks never got closer than 15 the rest of the way.

Wagner All-Time vs. the Ivy League
The Seahawks own an all-time record of 23-22 vs. the Ivies. Wagner has faced six of the eight Ivy League teams all time, having faced Brown (0-1), Columbia (17-7), Harvard (1-2), Princeton (0-2), and Yale (0-3). The only two Ivy League teams that Wagner has never faced are Dartmouth and Pennsylvania. The Seahawks will meet the Quakers, however, for the first time at the famed Palestra on Monday, December 21.

Nwajei, Peck Moving up on Career Scoring List
Jasmine Nwajei's 20-point output vs. Mississippi State (11/29) moved her past Carrie Walker (2000-2004) for 11th on the Seahawk all-time scoring list and the 5-8 junior enters the Yale game with 1,316 career points. Senior guard Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) has moved into 14th on the Wagner scoring list, passing Hall of Fame member Cindy Bonforte (1981-85) who is at 1,239 points.

Next Up: Lafayette
The Seahawks return to the friendly confines of the Spiro Center to meet the Lafayette Leopard of the Patriot League on Wednesday, December 9 in a 5:00 p.m. tip.
