Staten Island, NY - The Wagner Seahawks host Newark, New Jersey-based NJIT in search of their first victory of the 2015-16 season after opening the season with losses to major conference foes Pittsburgh, Old Dominion, No. 7 Ohio State, and Mississippi State, in the first game of a doubleheader with the Seahawk men hosting Morgan State at 7:30 p.m.

The SeriesThe contest with the Highlanders will mark the ninth meeting all-time between the schools with NJIT holding a 5-3 edge. In the most recent matchup between the Seahawks and the Highlanders, on December 2, 2014, Wagner dropped a 60-54 decision in Newark. NJIT, which is in its first season as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, enters the Wagner game with a record of 2-3.

Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum) (pictured above), the nation's No. 2-leading scorer a year ago at 24.8 points per game, tossed in a game-high 20 points and moved into 11th place on the all-time career scoring list, but it was not enough as the Mississippi (Ole Miss) Rebels of the SEC pulled away for an 86-49 victory over Wagner on Sunday. Tanasia Russell (Vineland, ,NJ/Vineland) added seven points apiece. For Russell, the seven points are a career high. The Green & White, who trailed 19-12 after one quarter and 36-26 at the half, struggled from the floor throughout the game despite having their share of open looks, finishing at 28 percent from the game on 16-of-58 shooting. The Rebels, who held a 51-34 rebounding edge, shot 50 percent on the afternoon (33-of-66).

Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights), who finished with five points vs. the Rebels, has moved into 14th on the Wagner scoring list, passing Hall of Fame member Cindy Bonforte (1981-85) who is at 1,239 points.
