Staten Island, NY – Wagner (12-27; 5-7 NEC) kicks off a nine-game homestand with a pivotal series against Mount St. Mary's (13-20; 6-10 NEC) this weekend. The teams will open play on Friday, May 2 at 3:00 pm before locking horns for a 1:00 pm doubleheader on Saturday, May 3 with the series finale set for Sunday, May 4 at 1:00 pm.

Nick Mascelli is hitting a team-best .308 (17th NEC) while pacing the squad with 45 hits (t-9th NEC), 22 walks (4th NEC), 12 multi-hit games and a .416 OBP (6th NEC). The freshman shortstop also has a team-best 106 assists while ranking second with 19 runs and is one of just four Green & White players to start all 39 games this season
Flynn Leads The WaySenior
Shaun Flynn hit safely in three-of-four games in New Britain while batting a team-best .286 against the Blue Devils. On the year, he is second on the squad in batting (.284) while ranking among the team-leaders with 18 runs, seven doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI and 18 walks. He also has 12 multi-hit games and notched his first career outfield assist at CCSU.
Gordon, Maz Heating UpOver his last nine games, junior
Jason Gordon is hitting .353 (12-of-34) with five RBI, four runs and three walks while raising his average 38 points to .280. Meanwhile, classmate
Tommy Mazurkiewicz is batting .308 (8-of-26) over his last eight games.
The Big HurtMazurkiewicz has been hit a NEC-best 15 times and is tied with Director of Operations
Eddie Brown for second place on the all-time single-season list. With two more plunkings he will match
Damian Csakai's school record set in 2010.
Heavy HitterSenior
Chris Smith clouted his team-best matching third home run at CCSU. On the year, he is also tied for fourth with a NEC-best 10 doubles while also ranking eighth with a .452 slugging percentage. Smith also paces the squad with 20 runs while hitting .282 with nine stolen bases.
Lynn Lighting It UpOver his last 10 games, sophomore
John Lynn is batting .367 (11-of-30) with a team-best six RBI and four walks. During that time he has raised his average 56 points to .253.
Tough Luck Matty MoSenior LHP
Matt Morris was a close call at first base away from notching a complete game shutout at Central Connecticut and allowed just one unearned run over a career-high 8.0 innings. Morris, who is 2-5 with a team-leading 25 strikeouts over a team-best 54.0 innings of work, has received just 17 runs of support in his nine starts.
During NEC Play ...Morris has a miniscule 1.25 ERA over 21.2 innings of work while limiting opposing hitters to a .215 average.
The Art Of The Stolen BaseJunior
Nick Dini is third in the NEC with 14 stolen bases in an efficient 16 attempts. On defense, the Seahawk catcher has thrown out 39.1 percent (9-of-23) of runners on the bases.

The Garden State native has reached base safely in 11-of-12 conference games and leads Wagner in batting (.310), hits (13), stolen bases (7) and OBP (.396) in NEC-only action.
For His Career ...Dini is hitting .296 with 14 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 51 RBI over 76 NEC games.
Sacrificing For The TeamJunior
Dan Wasilick leads the NEC with seven sacrifice bunts.
Last Season Vs. The MountWagner hit a blistering .359 while averaging 7.3 runs per game in taking three-of-four from the Mount a year ago in Staten Island. Flynn led the way, batting a team-best .600 (9-for-15) with five runs and a pair of walks.
The SeriesThe Seahawks hold a 43-33 advantage in the all-time series with the Mountaineers, including going 28-12 when playing in Staten Island. Addtionally, the Green & White is 8-4 at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

Chris Collazo went 4-for-5 with a sacrfice bunt over two games against Mount St. Mary's pitching coach Dustin Pease when the two were student-athletes in the NEC. Pease went on to a solid professional career, reaching Double A with the San Antonio Missions of the Texas League.

Max Schmardel picked up the most unlikely stat ... a save. Firing 3.1 innings of relief, the Garden State native became the sixth different Wagner hurler to earn a save this season. Schmardel has struck out 10 with a 1.59 ERA over 11.1 innings of action this season.
Six-PackThanks to Schmardel's performance, the Seahawks are tied for seventh in the nation as six different players have recorded a save this season. Texas Tech leads the way with eight different players recording stops.
Casey Coming On StrongDespite seeing his 23.2 inning scoreless streak snapped in a no-decision against NJIT, senior RHP
Ryan Casey has been lights out over his last three starts - all Wagner wins. During that time he has a 0.91 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 19.2 innings. On the year, he paces the Seahawks with a 3.52 ERA 53.2 innings of work.
Man Of Many GlovesDini is leading Wagner in positions played (5) as the 2013 NEC First Team selection has seen time at catcher (23 games), second base (6 games), shortstop (1 games), third base (12 games) and DH (1 game).
