Staten Island, NY – After taking 3-of-4 from Fairleigh Dickinson last weekend, Wagner returns to action with single games at Rider (4/16) and against Saint Peter (4/17) before playing a three-game series with NJIT (4/18-4/19) in the Seahawks' annual Northeast Conference (NEC) bye weekend.

Currao Gets The CallFreshman LHP
Brad Currao will get the starting nod against Rider for the second time this season. In his first appearance, he yielded two runs on four hits over 4.0 innings.
Saint Peter's On Staten IslandWagner recorded its first-ever three game non-conference series sweep last season against Saint Peter's, taking all three match-ups at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The Seahawks have now won four-straight games against the Peacocks on Staten Island by a combined 40-7 score and are 6-1, all-time, against the Jersey City based institution at the ballpark.

NJIT=NEC Bye Weekend FoeFor the second-straight weekend, the Highlanders will lock horns with a NEC opponent that is on its bye. NJIT bested Sacred Heart and ace pitcher Kody Kerski in the opener before dropping the next three games to the Pioneers.
DYK?Carone began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach for then Division II Highlanders in 2004.
All-Time Against NJITWagner is 3-1, all-time, against NJIT since the Highlanders moved up to Division I and won the lone meeting between the teams a year ago by a 12-9 count at Riverfront Stadium.
A Year Ago ...Dini went 2-for-6 with a home run and five RBI in leading the Seahawks to a 12-9 midweek victory over NJIT. For his career, he is 4-for-9 with five RBI, four runs, a double, triple and home run against the Newark-based institution.

(Monmouth - players | NJIT - coach | Rider - coach | Villanova - coach) Wagner Earns Series Victory Over FDU For Second-Straight YearFor the second-straight season, the the Green & White earned a series victory against Fairleigh Dickinson by a 3-1 count and is now tied for third place in the NEC at 5-3.
Offense ExplodesAll nine regulars hit safely as Wagner erupted for a season-high 12 runs and 17 hits en route to posting an easy 12-5 victory over the Knights in the series opener on Friday. The support was more then enough for Casey (2-4), who struck out five while yielding just an unearned run on six hits over 7.0 innings.
Casey On The BumpThanks to his performance, Casey stretched his scoreless streak to 16.2 innings, including 12.2 during league play, while improving to 2-4 and lowering his team-best ERA to 3.66 (10th NEC). Additionally, the Garden State native is fourth in the league with 46.2 innings pitched and has walked just 10 batters.
Casey During NEC Play ...Is an impressive 10-5 with 58 strikeouts, against 24 walks, and a 3.74 ERA over 130 innings. Addtionally, when pitching at home during that time Casey is 6-1 with a 2.88 ERA and 35 strikeouts, against just 11 walks, over 72.0 innings.
Gordo Breaks OutJunior
Jason Gordon led the way in Friday's rout, going 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI while reaching base safely all five times and raised his average 54 points in the process. For his career, he is now batting .373 (15-of-51) at home during league play.
Law Of AveragesOne game after crossing the plate 12 times, the Seahawks could only manage one run of offense in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. However, that was all Morris needed as the hard-throwing lefty spun his first collegiate complete game shutout. In the Green & White's 1-0 victory, he limited Knight hitters to a miniscule .167 average (4-of-24) and did not permit a runner to reach third safely over his dominating seven-inning performance.
NEC Comes Calling ... AgainFor the second time this season Morris was selected as the NEC Pitcher of the Week, sharing the honor with Bryant's Craig Schlitter. Morris notched his first honor after pitching a career-high 7.1 innings in the Green & White's 2-1 victory over Army.
InterestingCasey and Morris each didn't yield an earned run to FDU for the second-straight season.
Long Clinches SeriesAfter droping a 7-3 decision in the third game of the series, Wagner rallied for a 5-1 win over FDU in the series finale between the teams. Freshman RHP
Nolan Long clinched the series with the Seahawks' third dominating performance from a starting pitcher on the weekend as the Green & White hoopster yielded just one run on four hits over 7.0 innings en route to his first collegiate victory. Long, like Morris two starts before him, limited Fairleigh Dickinson to a miniscule .167 average (4-for-24).
DominationBoth Morris and Long did not allow a leadoff hitter ro reach safely last weekend (0-for-14).
Five-SpotMammino closed out the series with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief to earn his first collegiate save while becoming the fifth different Wagner pitcher to record a stop this season.
This SeasonMammino has allowed just one run and two hits over 6.2 innings of relief while posting a 1.35 ERA.
A Happy BirthdayAfter dropping both ends of a doubleheader on his 32nd birthday, Carone's 33rd birthday was much happier thanks to the Seahawks' series-clinching victory over FDU on Sunday, April 13. As a collegiate player, assistant and head coach Carone is 11-3 when playing/coaching on his birthday at the Division I level.
All He Does Is ReachDini has now reached base safely in 18-straight games while posting a .400 OBP during that time. The third-year starter is hitting .260 with four doubles, one triple, a team-best three home runs and a team-leading 14 RBI.
More DiniDini is second in the NEC and tops on the team with 12 stolen bases. Additionally, the three-year starter has also thrown out 45.0 percent (9-of-20) of runners on the bases behind the dish.
Man Of Many GlovesDini is also leading Wagner in positions played (4) as the 2013 NEC First Team selection has seen time at catcher (17 games), second base (4 games), shortstop (1 games) and third base (5 games).
Flynn On FireOver his last seven games, Flynn is hitting .409 (9-of-22) with eight runs, eight RBI, two doubles and two home runs. In his first 22 games, he had just four runs, five RBI and four extra-base hits. Flynn leads the squad with four multi-RBI games and is second with eight multi-hit games.
Smith Heating UpSenior
Chris Smith reached base at a smouldering .588 clip last week against FDU, hitting .462 (6-for-13) with five runs while hitting safely in all four games. On the year, he is leading the Seahawks in hitting (.282), hits (29), doubles (8), extra-base hits (11), total bases (45) and slugging (.437).
Maz ClutchLast weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson, junior
Tommy Mazurkiewicz hit .357 (5-for-14) with four RBI and three runs,, highlighted by going 3-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Against Knight Pitching ...The trio of Dini, Mazurkiewicz and Smith are hitting a combined .370 (40-for-108) for their careers with 24 runs, 11 extra-base hits, 24 RBI and 13 stolen bases for their careers.

John Lynn combined to go 8-for-24 (.333) with three doubles and six RBI against Fairleigh Dickinson after registering just 12 hits, one double and two RBI entering last weekend's play.
Mascelli Going StrongDespite going just 2-for-15 last weekend, freshman
Nick Mascelli continues to lead the Green & White in hits (29), walks (17) and OBP (.397).
Iron FiveDini, Flynn, Mascelli, Mazurkiewicz and Smith have each started all 29 games for Wagner this season. The quintet has recorded 77.6 percent (66/85) of the team's runs, 68.2 percent (135/198) of the hits, 80.0 percent (36/45) of the extra base hits and 66.7 percent (52/78) of the RBI.
ImpressiveThe five teams (Elon, Texas State, Army, No. 8 Cal Poly, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara) that the Green & White has squared off in non-conference weekend match-ups of at least three games have a 117-54 (.684) record.

Ian Miller recently started his second pro season with the Clinton LumberKings of the Low A Midwest League and is hitting .333 (10-for-30) with nine runs, five walks, three extra-base hits and three stolen bases over nine games.
Pitching Steps Up In Win Over RiderIn the win over Rider, the bullpen combined to hold the Broncs to just four hits over 5.0 scoreless innings of work. Battaglia earned the win and Adams the save as each hurler pitched 2.0 frames As a unit, the Seahawk pitching staff limited the Rider hitters to a paltry .077 average (1-for-13) with runners in scoring position.
Dini Named To Johnny Bench Award ListDini was one of 72 backstops to be named to the official watch list for the 2014 Johnny Bench Award presented by
BaseballSavings.com. Dini, who has hit safely in five of six games this season, earned First Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) honors as a catcher last season, batting .312 with a team-best 20 extra-base hits, including 14 doubles, two triples and four home runs with a team-leading 46 RBI. Additionally, the two-year starter threw out 29.4 percent (10-of-34) of runners trying to steal.
The Long & Short Of ItLong was recently tabbed as the preseason Rookie of the Year by Baseball America and was drafted by the S.F. Giants in the 38th round of the 2012 MLB Draft before attending prep school.
