Staten Island, NY -
Senior Jason Gordon (Baltimore, MD / Archbishop Curley) rapped a career-high four hits to lead Wagner to a 12-5 romp over Fairleigh Dickinson in the first of four games between the teams at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

All nine regulars hit safely for the Seahawks, which recorded season-highs in runs (12) and hits (17) while improving to 6-20 and 3-2 in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The Knights fall to 6-16 and 0-5 in the league.

Lost amidst the offensive explosion was the performance by senior RHP Ryan Casey (Paramus, NJ / St. Joseph Regional). Casey (2-4), who extended his scoreless streak to 16.2 innings, allowed just one unearned run on six hits and didn't walk a batter over 7.0 dominating frames while also striking out five and retired 12 straight at one point.

Casey was tested in the opening inning as Dylan Sprague led off with a single before moving to third when Shane Siebler reached on a throwing error. However, the Garden State native then struck out the next batter before inducing a double play to escape without incident.

The Green & White then struck for five runs while batting around in the bottom part of the frame. Freshman Nick Mascelli (Clifton, NJ / Seton Hall Prep) drew a walk before senior Chris Smith (Tampa, FL / Ellsworth CC (IA)) singled. Junior Nick Dini (Monroe Township, NJ / Monroe Township) then opened the scoring with a RBI single to plate Mascelli. Senior Shaun Flynn (Tabernacle, NJ / Burlington CC) followed with a walk to load the bases for junior Tommy Mazurkiwicz (Neshanic Station, NJ / Somerville), who delivered a two-run double that plated Smith and Dini. Gordon then chased home Flynn with a RBI single before junior Zack Yesko (Mukwonago, WI / Mukwonago) capped the five-run frame with a RBI single to score Mazurkiewicz.

Wagner added to the lead with a pair of two-out runs in the fifth while extending the lead to 7-0 and knocking FDU RHP Nick Cuono out of the game. Junior John Lynn (Wallingford, PA / Salesianum School (DE)) fought back from a 0-2 count to score Flynn with a two-out RBI single before sophomore Dan Wasilick (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) welcomed reliever Joe Borelli with a beautiful bunt single to bring home Gordon.

Fairleigh Dickinson would get on the board in the top of the sixth with an unearned run only to see the Seahawks respond with a pair of runs thanks to Yesko's bases loaded double to deep center field.

The lead would grow to an insurmountable 12-1 in the seventh as the Green & White scored three more runs with the big blast coming on a Gordon two-run triple that narrowly missed clearing the fence in right center.

The Knights would score one in the eighth and three in the ninth to provide the final 12-5 margin.

Gordon went 4-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and one walk to lead the way on offense. Dini (3-for-5), Flynn (2-for-4; 4 runs), Yesko (2-for-4; 3 RBI) and Smith (2-for-6; 2 runs) rounded out the five multi-hit performers for Wagner.

Matt McCann paced an 11-hit attack for the visitors, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a stolen base.

Cuono (1-3) was saddled with the loss, allowing seven runs over 4.2 innings of work.

The teams will resume their series with a 1:00 pm doubleheader tomorrow at the ballpark.
