Box Score / Box Score (PDF)

Bronx, NY -
Fordham scored three first-inning runs and rode the right arm of Cody Johnson to an 8-1 victory over Wagner at Houlihan Park.

With the win, the Rams improve to 6-3 while the Seahawks fall to 1-6.

Fordham opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning, before adding five in the sixth to account for its eight runs.

Wagner was unable to generate any offense all day, scoring one run on four hits as Johnson (2-0) allowed just three hits over 7.0 shutout innings.

The Seahawks finally broke through in the top of the ninth inning with an unearned run as freshman Trey Nicosia (State College, PA / State College Area) scored on a Dan Wasilick (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) infield single, when the throw got past the first baseman.

Sophomore RHP Steven Bloodworth (Annandale, NJ / North Hunterdon) was stellar out of the bullpen with 4.0 scoreless innings of relief. Making his first appearance in nearly two seasons, junior LHP Matt Morris (Matawan, NJ / St. John Vianney) was saddled with the loss as the Garden State native allowed three runs on a pair of hits and two walks in an inning of work.

Fordham, which out-hit Wagner by an 8-4 count, was led by Ryan Lee, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and Ryan McNally, who delivered a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning.

Senior Nick Alfano (Coral Springs, FL / North Broward Prep), junior Ian Miller (Downingtown, PA / Bishop Shanahan) and classmate Chris Smith (Tampa, FL / Freedom (Ellsworth Community College (IA)) along with Wasilick added singles to lead the way on offense.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, March 9 at 1:00 pm with a doubleheader at Norfolk State.
