Merion Station, PA -
Saint Joseph's posted a 14-5 victory over Wagner in the resumption of yesterday's suspended game, before recording a 6-5 win in game two.

With the sweep, the Hawks improve to 8-11 while the Seahawks fall to 2-12.

In the first game, Saint Joseph's scored 10 unanswered runs en route to recording a come-from-behind 14-5 win over Wagner after resuming play in the bottom of the third inning.

The Seahawks opened the scoring yesterday with four runs in the top of the second inning while batting around. Junior Chris Smith (Tampa, FL / Freedom / Ellsworth CC) opened the frame with a walk, before moving over to second on a ground out. Classmate Shaun Flynn (Tabernacle, NJ / Seneca / Burlington County College) followed suit with a walk, before the pair advanced to second-and-third on a ground out. Freshman Ben Ruta (West Windsor, NJ / West-Windsor Plainsboro South) then plated Smith with an infield single while moving Flynn over to third. Flynn then scored on a wild pitch as Ruta advanced to second. Junior Ian Miller (Downingtown, PA / Bishop Shanahan) continued the hit parade with a RBI double, before Jayson Keel (Starkville, MS / Starkville / Holmes CC) capped the scoring with a RBI triple to give the Green & White a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom part of the frame, the Hawks rallied with four runs to tie it up at 4-4.

Wagner immediately reclaimed the lead with a run in the top of the third inning. Sophomore Nick Dini (Monroe Township, NJ / Monroe Township) led off with a double before moving to third on a Smith bunt single and would come around to score on a Chase Gray (GS, Toms River, NJ / Toms River South / Seton Hall) RBI ground out.

The game was then suspended in the bottom part of the frame.

After the game resumed today it was all Saint Joseph's as the Hawks plated four runs in the fifth and six in the sixth en route to their aforementioned victory.

Smith was perfect at the plate 3-for-3 with a walk while Dini and Miller each recorded multiple-hits, rounding out the top performers for the Seahawks. Stefan Kancylarz led a 16-hit Saint Joseph's attack, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.

RHP Daniel Thorpe (2-2) struck out four while yielding four hits and a walk over 6.0 scoreless in frames in collecting the win. Freshman RHP Nathan Hunt (Kirtland, OH / Hawken School) (0-1) was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs over 3.0 innings of action.

The Hawks started fast in the second game, scoring three runs in the second and one in the third en route to building a quick 4-0 lead.

Wagner began chipping away at the lead in the top of the fourth with two runs.

With one out, Smith reached via a bunt, before Gray singled to right field. Keel then plated the pair with a double down the left field line while trimming the deficit to 4-2.

In the fifth inning, Alfano plated Miller with a RBI single to draw the Seahawks to within one at 4-3.

The Seahawks completed their comeback with a run in the top of the eighth inning while tying the game up at 4-4 thanks to four walks, the last of which by Miller forced in Keel.

As was the case all day, Saint Joseph's answered with a pair of runs in the bottom part of the frame in reclaiming the lead at 6-4.

The Green & White would continue to fight and scored one run in the ninth, before ultimately falling 6-5.

Seven of the nine Wagner starters hit safely, led by Keel, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Also notching multiple hits was Alfano, who finished up 2-for-5.

Sophomore RHP Anthony Battaglia (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) fell to 1-2 on the year, allowing two runs, one earned, in the decisive eighth inning.

Freshman LHP Mike Adams (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Holy Spirit) was outstanding out of the bullpen, striking out three while yielding one run on just three hits in 5.1 innings of action.

RHP James Harrity (2-0) earned the win, allowing an unearned run over 1.1 innings.
