Notes:
It's About Time ...
Wagner and La Salle will meet up for the first time this season after the teams' previous scheduled match-up was cancelled due to inclement weather at the NC State Tournament.
Something's Gotta Give
Both teams enter mired in early-season funks as the Seahawks have lost nine-of-10 while the Explorers have dropped eight straight and 11-of-12.
Keep It Going
Wagner has won five-straight games against Philadelphia-based schools dating back to 2005.
Atlantic 10 Blues
The Seahawks have lost all five match-ups with Atlantic 10 (A-10) schools this season.
The Last Time ...
Wagner last defeated a team from the A-10 was on April 30, 2011 when the Seahawks swept a doubleheader from Saint Joseph's by scores of 4-1 and 5-0.
Last Time In Philadelphia ...
The Green & White last played in our nation's former capital five years ago, defeating Temple 11-3 on March 7, 2008 and Villanova 5-3 on March 11, 2008.
Not Too Shabby
In its current five-game winning streak over Philadelphia-based schools, Wagner has outscored the opposition by a combined 30-11 count.
Did You Know?
In the Seahawks' doubleheader sweep of Saint Joseph's in 2011, the Seahawks hit a blistering .346 while posting a 0.56 ERA over 16.0 innings of work at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
We Meet Again
Wagner head coach
Jim Carone will be looking for his second victory against Villanova this season and the program's third-straight. The Seahawks defeated the Wildcats in come-from-behind fashion by a 5-4 score in 10 innings earlier this season.
In That Game
Freshman
Ben Ruta led four players in that game, which was also the Green & White's season opener, going 2-for-2 off the bench, highlighted by the game-winning, RBI single in the top of the 10th inning.
Bullpen Stands Out
In the win over the Wildcats, Mammino fired 4.2 innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts, against just one walk, in his collegiate debut while sophomore RHP
Anthony Battaglia hurled 2.0 hitless innings en route to earning the victory.
The Win ...
Was the first by a Wagner team in a season opener, since besting La Salle 12-4 on February 26, 2000.
Mammino Honored
Mammino became the second Seahawk freshman to be honored by the Northeast Conference (NEC) this season when he earned league Rookie of the Week honors on Monday after leading the Green & White to a 4-3 victory in the second game of last weekend's doubleheader at Norfolk State. The Garden State native became the first Wagner starting pitcher to earn a win this season, twirling
6.2 innings while allowing just one earned run. On the year, Mammino is 1-0 with a team-leading 2.30 ERA and nine strikeouts over 15.2 innings of work while limiting opposing hitters to a paltry .214 average.
Tough Luck Casey
Casey earned a no-decision in game one of last weekend's aformentioned doubleheader with Norfolk State, despite allowing just one run over a career-high 8.0 innings of work. In his last two outings, Casey has has a 3.21 ERA with seven strikeouts, against just two walks, over 14.0 innings.
Dini Breaks Out
Sophomore
Nick Dini notched a career-high matching four hits with two runs, a double and a RBI against VCU while raising his average 75 points in the process.
Against VCU ...
Wagner recorded season-highs in runs (8) and hits (12).
Who's Hot?
* Junior

* Sophomore RHP
Steven Bloodworth has allowed just two runs and five hits over his last 9.1 innings of work while recording a 1.93 ERA with five strikeouts, against just two walks, and his first career save.
Happy Homecoming
This weekend's games will be the first in Philadelphia as a head coach for Carone, who spent three years as the Villanova pitching coach. It will also be a homecoming of sorts for junior
Ian Miller, who played his prep ball at nearby Bishop Shanahan High School. Miller, who ranks among the NCAA leaders with 11 stolen bases, was recently featured in the Staten Island Advance's Seahawk season preview. Click
