Box Score / Box Score (PDF)

Smithfield, RI -
Bryant completed a doubleheader sweep of Wagner with a 3-0 victory in game two at Conaty Park. The Bulldogs, which captured the Northeast Conference (NEC) Regular Season Championship with the two wins, improve to 32-21 and 23-8 in the league, while the Seahawks fall to 22-32 and 15-16 in the NEC.

Jamie Skagerlind broke a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning, while Joseph Michaud (4-0) struck out four over seven innings of four-hit ball in collecting his first shutout of the year to lead the way for Bryant.

Freshman Dan Watson (Howell, NJ / Howell) pitched well in defeat, striking out three while scattering scattering three runs, two earned, on five hits and a walk over 6.0 innings in recording his first career complete game.

Watson worked out of trouble over the first four frames, while holding the Bulldogs hitless (0-for-7) with runners on base during that time.

Michaud was just as impressive, allowing only back-to-back two-out singles to Bill Murphy (GS, Cranford, NJ / Roselle Catholic / Rutgers) and Nick Alfano (Coral Springs, FL / North Broward Prep) in the bottom of the third inning.

Bryant finally broke through with the aforementioned three-run frame in the top of the fifth.  With one out, Connor Carignan got aboard with a single up the middle. After Kevin Brown reached on a fielding error, Skagerlind hit a three-run home run to right field to make it 3-0.

Wagner would put runners on board in each of the final two frames, only to be denied each time.

Leading the way on offense for the Seahawks in today's doubleheader was Alfano and Murphy, each of whom went 2-for-5 at the plate.

Skagerlind went 2-for-3 in game two with a double, home run and three RBI to pace the Bulldogs.

The teams will conclude their series tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
