Men’s Lacrosse Falls To No. 19 Bryant 21-3

FINAL STATS

Smithfield, RI –
Four different Bryant players scored two goals apiece to lead the No. 19 Bulldogs past Wagner 21-3 in Northeast Conference (NEC) men's lacrosse play this afternoon.

Three different Seahawks found the cage in junior midfielder Nick DePhillips (Glen Ridge, NJ/ Glen Ridge) along with freshmen midfielders Cory Santor (Glastonbury, CT/ Glastonbury) and Kendall Strahl (Carlsbad, CA/ Carlsbad).

Bryant out-shot Wagner 48-30 and held a 47-1 edge in ground balls while winning 22-of-27 faceoffs.

Eighteen different Bulldogs recorded a point, 16 of whom netted a goal. Bryant tallied six goals in each of the first three periods Sunday, opening the game with four scores in the first five minutes en route to taking a 12-1 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs spread the wealth around on Senior Day as no Bryant player scored more than two in a victory that sets up a winner-take-all showdown at Robert Morris on Saturday as the victorious team will claim the 2012 NEC regular-season crown and, with it, the right to host the upcoming NEC Tournament.

The Seahawks fall to 1-12 on the season and 1-3 in the NEC while Bryant improves to 12-3 overall and remains perfect in league play at 4-0.

Wagner will close out the 2012 season at home on Saturday, April 28 when the Seahawks host Mount St. Mary's in a Noon start.

The season finale will be Senior Day as the Seahawk program will honor its seven graduating seniors in a pre-game ceremony. The seven seniors who will be playing their final game adorning the Green & White are midfielders John Andrejack (Jamesport, NY/ Riverhead), James Cazzupe (Radnor, PA/ Archbishop John Carroll) and William Hedges (Shoreham, NY/ Longwood), attackman Mike Hurley (Billerica, MA/ Billerica), midfielders Cory Perkins (Chatsworth, CA/ Chaminade College Prep) and John Rushton (West Islip, NY/ West Islip) and goalkeeper Peter Rubin (East Rockaway, NY/ East Rockaway).
