West Long Branch, NJ -
Monmouth broke a 6-6 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning en route to a 13-8 win over Wagner in the series finale of a four game set at the MU Baseball Field. The Hawks improve to 20-13 and 15-5 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the Seahawks fall to 10-24 and 8-12 in the league.

Monmouth took the early lead in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader on Ryan Terry's three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Hawks extended the lead out to 4-0 on Jamie Rosenkranz's RBI single in the bottom of the second, plating Tom Valichka.

Wagner got on the board in the top of the third inning. Senior Joe Conforti (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) was plunked leading off the frame before moving to second on a ground out. Junior Tommy Higgins (Port Monmouth, NJ / Red Bank Catholic) trimmed the deficit to 4-1 with a RBI single to center field, scoring Conforti.

The Seahawks then erupted for five runs on the strength of five hits and one big error in the top of the fifth inning while assuming a 6-4 lead and chasing Monmouth starter RHP Pat Light from the game.

Senior Jack Rice (Middlesex, NJ / Immaculata) led off with a walk before moving to third on a Conforti single to right field. Higgins picked up his second RBI of the game after reaching via an error, plating Rice. Junior Eddie Brown (Edison, NJ / St. Joseph's (Metuchen)) pushed Conforti into scoring position with a fly out before senior Seth Boyd (Perth Amboy, NJ / Perth Amboy) singled up the middle, cutting the deficit to 4-3 while scoring Conforti. Lucas then tied the game up with a RBI single, bringing around Higgins while moving Boyd to third. Senior Kevin McDonnell (Bristol, CT / Avon Old Farms) gave the Green & White its first lead of the game with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Boyd. Junior Hayden Hunter (Santa Monica, CA / Notre Dame) capped the scoring with a RBI double, scoring Lucas while giving the Green & White a 6-4 lead.

Monmouth fought back to tie the game, scoring a pair of two-out runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Wagner seemed poised to reclaim the lead after McDonnell singled with one out in the top of the seventh before moving to third when Alfano smoked a single of his own. Unfortunately, the Seahawks were denied when Nick Vallillo struck out the first batter he faced out of the bullpen before inducing an inning-ending ground out.

The Hawks assumed command of the game in the bottom part of the frame, scoring seven times while sending 11 batters to plate and taking a 13-6 lead.

The Seahawks got two of those runs back in the top of the eighth inning on a Higgins RBI double and a Boyd RBI ground out but could get no closer, falling 13-8

Eight of the Nine Wagner starters hit safely as the Seahawks notched 13 hits and were paced by Alfano's 3-for-5 performance at the plate. Also notching multiple hits were Brown Higgins and McDonnell. Conforti went 1-for-3 and was plunked twice while scoring three times.

Sophomore RHP Dakota Dvorak (Pompano Beach, FL / North Broward Prep) assumed the loss, yielding two runs over 0.2 innings in fallin to 0-1 on the year.
