Staten Island, NY – The 2009 Wagner College men's lacrosse team, under the direction of second-year head coach Jason Rife, takes to the field for the first time in a 1:00 pm faceoff vs. Quinnipiac at Wagner College Stadium. 

The Seahawks open the 2009 campaign with an influx of talent and a renewed optimism. Wagner returns 21 letterwinners, eight starters and welcomes 14 recruits. The Seahawks are led by tri-captains James Okun, Brian Poissant and Chris Ridente. Wagner also returns its two leading scorers from a year ago in attackmen Jeff Policicchio and Will Macumber.

The Bobcats Quinnipiac are guided by eighth-year head coach Eric Fekete. These teams
met in the 2008 season opener in Hamden. CT and the Bobcats came up with a 14-4
victory. Quinnipiac returns leading scorer Gary Messina, a senior middie who tallied 26 points
last season
