BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Three Wagner student athletes were named NEC Spring Scholar-Athletes of the Year for their respective sports, the conference announced Tuesday.
Sixth year outfielder
Lukas Torres claimed the award for baseball, graduate student
Tom Lamers took home the men's tennis award, and senior thrower
Christopher Milillo was named the winner for men's outdoor track & field.
Torres finished the 2026 season leading the Seahawks in several categories; he set a program record for walks in a season with 52, hit for a .406 batting average with a 1.032 OPS, and collected 82 hits, one of which was his 200th collegiate hit. With the baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, the Barnegat, NJ native has now earned a total of five post-season honors, including All-NEC First-Team, CSC Academic All-District, ABCA Second Team All-Region, and finally the NEC Male Team Student-Athlete of the Year.
For men's tennis, Lamers helped the Seahawks win their first ever NEC Championship in April with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 title-clinching win at third singles. The Netherlands native finished the year with an NEC-best 10 wins at third singles, which netted him Second Team All-NEC honors in singles. Like Torres, Lamers was also named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
Rounding out the three NEC Scholar-Athlete award winners for the spring, Milillo finished the season with several top finishes in the hammer throw. At the ECAC Outdoor Championships, Milillo placed first in the hammer throw with a season-best 63.66-meter throw, then followed it up with a gold medal in the NEC Championships at 61.20-meter throw, helping the Green & White capture their fourth outdoor track & field championship in program history.
