NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Wagner roared back on Friday after a tough walk-off loss to CCSU in the series opener, taking an 8-2 win to force a rubber game on Saturday.

The Seahawks finished with its eight runs on nine hits, working three walks and adding seven RBIs. Senior Colin Trizuto gets the win, now 2-2 this season after 8.0 innings of where where he allowed just two runs and recorded three strikeouts. Sophomore William Grayson closed out the game, striking out one Blue Devil in his single inning of work.
Trizuto allowed just two hits across the first three innings, facing the minimum in the third. He allowed two hits in the fourth but was able to induce a line out to strand a runner at third. He faced just the minimum again in the fifth before CCSU was able to do its damage in the sixth.
The top for batters in the Wagner order record a hit and junior Joseph Mennella and freshman Brendan McLouglin finishing as the two Seahawks with multiple hits in the game
The Seahawks got on the board early, scoring two runs on an RBI single from sophomore Jayden Alvarez on the first pitch of the at-bat. In the fourth, graduate Lukas Torres grounded out to the CCSU second baseman to push in a run, then an error from the shortstop put senior Nicholas Mazzotta on first and allowed McLoughlin to score from third.
An RBI single from junior Dylan Immel made it a 5-0 Wagner lead in the sixth, then another RBI single from junior Joseph Mennella tacked on the sixth run. A par of RBI singles in the sixth had CCSU getting on the board for the first time, but that was all the Blue Devils' offense could muster.
An RBI single from Torres in the seventh scored the seventh Wagner run of the game, then McLoughlin pushed in redshirt junior Evan McRae from third on a sacrifice fly for number eight on the day.
Next up, the two teams return for a rubber game Saturday, April 4 with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
