Four Seahawks Receive 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. —  Four members between the Wagner College men's and women's basketball teams have been selected to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District squad, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The four Seahawks — senior Irene Fernandez de Caleya, senior Angelie Ricard, redshirt senior Priscila Varela for the women's side and junior Michael Cooper for the men's team — earned recognition for their outstanding performance both on the court and in the classroom.

To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA, have participated in at least 90 percent of the season's events, or have started in at least 66 percent of the team's games. Freshmen are not eligible for the award.

This year, Fernandez de Caleya appeared in 27 games, making 26 starts, averaging 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest on 40.6% from the floor. Fernandez de Caleya was named an NEC Prime Performer on two separate occasions.

Varela concluded her season as the only Seahawk to start all 30 games during the 2025-26 campaign. Varela averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per contest scoring a Wagner-best 13 points in two separate games.

Ricard finished the season as one of five Seahawks to play in all 30 games during the 2025-26 season while making 16 starts. Ricard averaged 3.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest this season, highlighted by an 11-point outing at Mercyhurst in early January.

For the men, junior Michael Cooper concluded his first season on Grymes Hill appearing in all 31 games, making five starts. Cooper joins fellow Vincennes teammate junior Bryan Akanmu as the only Seahawks to play in all 31 games during the 2025-26 year.

During this last season, Cooper averaged 4.8 points and 2.4 rebounds on 41.8% from the field and 34.9% from deep. Cooper scored a Wagner-high 15 points and corralled five rebounds at Mercyhurst in late February.

For Wagner, Julia Fabozzi for the women's side and R.J. Greene for the men earned the distinctions at the end of 2024-25 season.
