STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.
Field Hockey
- Wagner embarks on its eighth season in program history on Friday, Aug. 28 as the Seahawks travel to America East member UAlbany. The Green & White's season-opener against the Great Danes will start at noon.
- Two days later, Wagner hosts Big 10 member Rutgers at the Field Hockey Complex. The Seahawks and the Scarlet Knights matchup will begin at 1:00 p.m.
- The Green & White were selected first overall in the NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll for the first time in program history.
- Under third-year head coach Aubrey Mytych, the Seahawks have made back-to-back appearances in the NEC's title match.
Football
- Wagner opens the 2026 season by hosting Robert Morris on Saturday, Aug. 29, at noon on Hameline Field.
- The game will be televised on ESPN+, with Paul Dottino and Kevin Gilbride on the call.
- The matchup marks the first time the Seahawks have opened a season with a conference game since facing Saint Francis in 2011.
- Last season, Wagner defeated Robert Morris, 24-20, on the road and finished 5-7 overall and 4-3 in NEC play, marking the program's best conference record since 2016.
- Saturday's theme is "Summer's Not Over." Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite tropical attire, and all fans will receive a free lei upon entering the stadium.
Men's Water Polo
- Wagner will open the 2026 season by facing California Baptist on Friday, Aug. 28, at 12:30 p.m. at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
- The matchup kicks off the opening weekend's Bruno Classic, where the Seahawks will play a double-header that includes an afternoon game against UC Davis at 5:00 p.m.
- The opening tournament will see the Seahawks face a gauntlet of opponents, continuing on Saturday with matchups against host Brown and LIU, before shifting to Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Sunday to take on MIT and Harvard.
- Last season, Wagner finished 12-18 overall and 4-8 in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) play, ultimately earning a fourth-place finish at the MAWPC Championship.
- The weekend marks the beginning of the 2026 schedule where the Seahawks are slated to compete in 27 games against 21 different teams.
Women's Soccer
- Wagner continues its non-conference slate on Sunday, Aug. 30, when the Seahawks travel to Easton, Pa., to take on Lafayette at 1 p.m.
