STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Head track & field coach Marvin Azor has added 25 signees ahead of the 2026-2027 season, which marks his second season at the helm for the Seahawks.
Azor brings in nine sprinters, nine field athletes and seven distance runners. The men's outdoor track & field team is coming off an NEC Championship in May, a title win where the Seahawks led for the duration of the meet and won nine gold medals. The women's program is one year removed from winning its first two titles in program history, securing the NEC Indoor and Outdoor Championship in 2025 before Azor took the helm.
Sprinters
Two newcomers will join the women's sprints squad in Averie Cartagena and Maya Teddor.
Cartagena attended Williamstown High School in Williamstown, New Jersey. She holds a 1:06.10 personal-best time in the 400m hurdles, as well as a 12.40-second 100m dash.
Teddor, a native of Sydney, Australia, comes to Grymes Hill from the University of South Dakota. Rounding out her time with the Coyotes, Teddor will begin her Wagner career with a career best 8.89-second 60m hurdles time and 14.12-second 100m hurdles.
Roodberry Barthelmy is one half of a pair of twins set to join the men's squad, a sprinter out of Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He arrives on Grymes Hill with a 10.9-second 100m as his personal best.
Jack O'Brady joins the Seahawks from Old Bridge High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey. O'Brady has posted a personal best 400m time of 50.08 seconds entering his collegiate career.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Daivion Hall attended Southern Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. His personal best 55m is 6.49 seconds and his 500m best is 1:06.16.
Jason Zhou arrives to Grymes Hill from Queens, New York. Attending St. Francis Prep in Queens, Zhou has logged an 11.10-second 100m as his personal best.
Nigel Harris comes to Wagner from Amityville, New York, an attendee of Copiague High School. A strong hurdler, Harris has logged a personal-best time of 13.57 seconds.
Vincent Damato is a Staten Island native who attended St. Peter's Boys High School. Wrapping up his high school career with the Eagles, Damato enters Wagner with a 21.83-second personal best time in the 200m dash.
A transfer from LIU's Brooklyn campus, Sage Primus is well acquainted with Wagner after competing with the Sharks in the NEC from 2024 through 2026. Most recently, he won bronze in the 4x400 relay at the 2026 NEC Indoor Championships.
Field
In the field events, eight total student-athletes will join the Seahawks.
Carter Hayes arrives on Grymes Hill from Baltimore, Maryland, a graduate of Calvert Hall College High School. He cleared 1.72m in high jump as his personal best.
A Staten Island native, Noah Nyankazi attended Moore Catholic on the island. His personal best triple jump performance is a 12.62m jump.
A name familiar to Wagner, Luke Mason is younger brother to jumper Jack Mason, who has been a top performer for the Seahawks in his three seasons. A native of Prescott, Arizona who attended Texas Wesleyan to begin his collegiate career, Luke enters Wagner with a personal best 57.83m javelin throw.
Mariam Azer attended St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, another Staten Island native staying local. She cleared 2.79m in pole vault as a personal best.
A Queens native from Maspeth, New Jersey, Kaitlynn Ching will join the throwing squad. She has posted a 34.13m personal best in javelin out of St. John's Prep.
Chris Tabansi is a jumper, also from Staten Island, who attended Moore Catholic High School. Heading into his collegiate career, Tabansi has logged a personal-best 13.26m triple jump.
Juliana Apreza joins Wagner as one of a number of student-athletes on the roster who attended Curtis High School on Staten Island. While with the Warriors, Apreza posted a personal best long jump of 5.30m.
Roodkerry Barthelmy, twin to sprinter Roodberry, joins the jumps squad. Also a native of Elizabeth, New Jersey he has posted a 7.21m long jump as his personal best.
A graduate of Susan E. Wagner High School on Staten Island, Tharidu Hewabajgamage will be a pole vaulter for the Seahawks. He has cleared 4.11m as a personal best.
Distance
Seven distance runners join the Seahawks, including four Staten Island natives. Each of these student-athletes will also join the Wagner cross country roster, set to begin competition in fall 2026.
A transfer from Santa Ana College in Santa Ana, California, Shaun Ray comes to Wagner from Orange, California. Ray played soccer since he was five years old, then transferred over to competing in track and cross country events.
Another transfer, Caleb Harman is a Yuma, Arizona native who arrives on Grymes Hill from Niagara University. A graduate of Yuma Catholic High School, Harman enters his senior year with a personal-best 15:30 5K time.
Matt Carano is another graduate of St. Peter's Boys High School, the second in Azor's class of signees. His personal best time in the 800m run is 2:00.
Joining the Seahawks from Old Bridge High School alongside O'Brady, Ronald Ciaccia is the second Knight to join Azor's roster this season. He holds a personal best of 1:54.09 in the 800m and 4:18.34 in the 1,500m.
Kayla Schnell attended St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, a Viking who arrives at Wagner to run both track and cross country. Schnell has also earned an MMA black belt.
One of two Vikings to join Wagner's distance runners this season, Michael Pira is a graduate of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School. Entering college, Pira's best 800m time is 2:00.
Volodmyr Tysbriy attended New Dorp High School, also competing with the Ocean Breeze Wave Runners. He arrives on Grymes Hill with a personal-best 2:01 800m time.
Wagner's cross country team will begin its season in fall 2026, with indoor track & field competition set to begin this winter. Schedules for each respective sport are to be announced soon.
