STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Shamika Kentish has been named Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Wagner College, Walt Hameline, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, announced. Kentish brings more than a decade of NCAA compliance experience across Division I and Division II institutions.
At Wagner, Kentish serves as a member of the athletics leadership team, overseeing all aspects of NCAA compliance and regulatory operations. Her responsibilities include interpreting NCAA legislation, leading compliance education initiatives, preparing and submitting Academic Progress Rate (APR) reports, and ensuring institutional alignment with NCAA, conference, and university policies.
"Shamika has extensive experience in NCAA compliance and understands the day-to-day demands of operating at both the Division I and Division II levels," Hameline said. "She will be an important resource for our coaches, staff, and student-athletes."
Prior to joining Wagner, Kentish most recently served as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Gannon University, where she led compliance operations and education while supporting institutional oversight at the Division II level.
She previously spent two years as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Norfolk State University, providing NCAA and MEAC rules interpretations for coaches, staff, and student-athletes, while also developing and implementing diversity and inclusion programming, including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives.
Kentish also brings conference-level experience, having served as Director of Compliance and Championships at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). In that role, she oversaw compliance operations for championship events and directed the conference's cross country and volleyball championships, while strengthening external partnerships and vendor relations.
Her collegiate compliance career also includes leadership roles at George Mason University, where she served as Interim Director of Compliance and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, as well as positions at Missouri State University and Chowan University, monitoring eligibility, recruiting, and scholarship processes for multiple sport programs.
Kentish has been actively involved with Women Leaders in College Sports, the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), and the Minority Opportunity Athletic Association, serving on several committees focused on education, diversity, and professional development.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Sports Management from Seton Hall University in 2010 and a Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix in 2012. Kentish is a Certified NCAA Facilitator and a graduate of the NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute.
