SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — The Swimming and Diving teams split the final results at Seton Hall on Saturday. The women defeated the Pirates 150-140, while the men came up short 176-112.
Fresh off her third NEC Swimmer of the Week award, sophomore
Mia Goodale once again showed out, finishing first in the 100-yard (52.62), the 200-yard (1:54.03), and the 500-yard (5:07.34) freestyle events. She also joined sophomore
Lovisa Ramsten, junior
Brooke Woolfe, and reigning NEC Rookie of the Week
Lillian Clark in winning the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:36.81).
Woolfe also won a race of her own, finishing first in the 200-yard breaststroke event (2:27.03). Senior
Lia Vendel took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.53), and three-time prime performer sophomore
Gaya Savran won both the 100-yard (57.58) and 200-yard (2:07.70) butterfly events.
Despite the loss, the men's team produced some event wins as well. Junior
Manuel Chavez Villalpando took first in the 100-yard butterfly (53.72), and senior
Ranger Gavino won the 200-yard individual medley event (2:00.90). Villalpando also joined sophomore
Florian Schumich, and juniors
Max Wameling and
Senan Noonan in winning the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.03).
The Seahawks will return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 23, where they will host LIU for their senior day meet at the Spiro Sports Center. The events are set to begin at 5 p.m.
