CHICAGO, Ill. — The Wagner College women's basketball team dropped its 2025-26 penultimate regular season game to Chicago State by a score of 84-75 on Friday afternoon at the Jones Convocation Center.
The Seahawks (13-15, 9-8 NEC) were led in scoring by sophomore Keana Foz for the second consecutive game. The Mississauga, Ontario native eclipsed her personal-best of 20, set on Thursday at New Haven, with a 22-point performance against the Cougars. Foz scored nine of her 22 points in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars (9-12, 8-9 NEC) shot an impressive 9-16 (56.3%) from beyond-the-arc, shooting 6-9 (66.7%) from three in the first half. Chicago State got out running in transition early, scoring 10 fast break points in the first quarter while holding Wagner to zero in the category. On the flip side, Wagner held a 7-0 advantage in second chance points in the opening frame.
Wagner and Chicago State scored the exact same amount of points in both quarters —17 in the first; 23 in the second — to head into halftime knotted up at 40 apiece.
Foz had 13 first half points while junior Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor followed with 11 points and nine rebounds in less than 13 minutes of action. Chicago State assisted on 10 out of its 15 made field goals in the first half.
In the third period, Chicago State outscored Wagner, 21-11, to take a 61-51 lead heading into the fourth. The Cougars outpaced the Seahawks, 9-2, in fastbreak points during the frame.
A high-scoring fourth quarter for both teams ended in a Chicago State nine-point win. Senior Irene Fernandez de Caleya scored 10 of her 14 points in the fourth period while freshman Alivia Landy recorded four points and three steals in the quarter.
Senior Angelie Ricard added eight points and four rebounds.
The Cougars capitalized on 14 free throws out of their 17 attempts in the fourth period to help seal the victory at home.
Next up, Wagner welcomes LIU for its final 2025-26 regular season final and annual 'Senior Day' on Thursday, March 5. Tip-off between the Seahawks and the Sharks is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Spiro Sports Center.
