STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner fencing teams finished their only home event of the season with two wins and four losses a piece on Sunday. In the middle of the event, the teams honored their graduating seniors on the floor of the Spiro Center.
The Seahawks struggled during the first three rounds of the meet, dropping their duels against St. John's, UNC, and Penn. Despite the team losses, men's sabre picked up the 6-3 win against St. John's and men's foil scratched out a 5-4 win against Penn. The latter was bookended by wins from sophomore
Emiliano Renteria, who went down to the wire to defeat Penn foilist Boris Chen 5-4. Renteria would go on to pick up seven wins total throughout the meet.
Both Wagner teams defeated Vassar and Yeshiva to collect their only wins of the event. Sophomore epeeist
