STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Wagner College women's basketball team travels to Saint Francis for the third conference game of the 2025-26 season. The Thursday tip-off between the Seahawks and Red Flash is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on NEC Front Row inside of DeGol Arena.
In the 82nd meeting between these two programs, the Red Flash hold a 53-28 all-time record over the Seahawks.
Wagner (6-7, 2-0 NEC) defeated Stonehill, 62-59, on Sunday to climb to 2-0 in the NEC for the first time since the 2022-23 season. Senior Irene Fernandez de Caleya scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with four assists in the win. Irene Fernandez de Caleya was named an NEC Prime Performer on Tuesday after averaging 13 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in a 2-0 weekend to start NEC play.
Junior Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor and redshirt junior Klea Kaci scored 12 points each, while sophomore Keana Foz stole the ball a season-high five times at Stonehill.
As a team, the Seahawks rank atop the NEC in forced turnovers per game (20.4) and second in the conference in blocks per game (3.31) and defensive three-point percentage (26.2%).
Individually, Foz ranks second in steals per game within the NEC at 2.1 steals per contest. Senior Hawa Balde-Camara sits third in the conference in blocks per game with 1.1. Both Foz and Balde-Camara ended last season in first place in their respective categories. Junior Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor leads Wagner in points per game with 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds. The Seahawks were picked to finish seventh in the conference's preseason coaches poll.
A win on Sunday would snap the Seahawks four-game skid against the Red Flash. A Seahawks' victory over the Skyhawks would make Wagner 3-0 in NEC play for the first time since 2022-23.
Saint Francis (0-13, 0-2 NEC) dropped its first two NEC games of the season, Le Moyne and FDU. The Red Flash fell to the Dolphins by a score of 73-69 before suffering a 73-28 defeat to the Knights.
Head Coach Chynna Bozeman runs the helm of Saint Francis coaching staff and is in her first season doing so.
Saint Francis comes into Friday's game with an 0-13 overall record with an 0-2 mark in NEC action. Graduate student Aleah James leads the Red Flash offense averaging 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Graduate student Shelby Ricks adds in 11.2 points and a team-best 6.0 rebounds per contest.
The Red Flash rank third in the conference in defensive rebounds grabbing 24.0 per game. Saint Francis was selected last in the NEC preseason coaches poll..
The last time these two teams met was back on January 25, 2025 when the Red Flash snuck away from Grymes HIll with a 50-48 win.
After taking on Saint Francis, Wagner stays in the state of Pennsylvania and heads northwest to Mercyhurst for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off at Owen McCormick Court on Friday, January 10.
