STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Splitting up between two meets this weekend, five Seahawks represented Wagner at the Mets Indoor Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday.
Freshman Jaslene Merizalde opened the day for the Seahawks, logging a 20:10.74 time in the 5,000m run to finish 14th. Next up, sophomore Ariel Kovach ran a 10.18-second time in the 60m hurdles.
In the field events, sophomore Madison Maxwell recorded a 4.15m long jump, also competing in triple jump with a 9.97m performance. Graduate Jovana Miloradovic joined Maxwell in the triple jump, reaching 10.56m on her second attempt to finish 15th.
For her first meet of the season, junior Dayana Rodriguez finished tenth in weight throw with a 13.38m throw on her second attempt of the day.
After the conclusion of this weekend, the Seahawks will compete in the FastTrack National Invite on Friday, Feb. 6 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex as their final meet before the conference championship.
